All of what you just said is indicative of an idiotic coach. Perreault should be stapled to Laine until he’s hit 40 goals. No excuse for Maurice wasting Perreault on Tanev and Lowry (non-shooters).
Tanev has been on an NHL 3rd line, yes, but he’s next to players better than he is always. He’ll get paid, but not by us. It would be a huge mistake to overpay for an easily replaceable asset just because he’s chaotic and fun - Rexypoo
So you just went from saying Tanev has been the "Jets best forward of 2019" ( wrong anyways because Sheif has been #1) to the statement that he is a 4th liner that's only worth $1 MM a year (less than he gets now) , and that the players he plays with are better than him even though " non-shooter" Tanev has more goals and points than either of them...fake news.

I’m a Sens fan and this is the funniest article I’ve seen in awhile. I’d be shipping stone out for Connor straight up if he’s not signing in Ottawa. Won’t happen though. |

Wheeler, Scheifle need three weeks off to recharge.
Good thing Nashville is struggling as well. |

People talk about "generational talent"
Karlsson WAS a generational talent. Yes I agree the return wasn't good.
All I was saying is that the general consensus is that teams are circling the 3 UFAs and the return should* be much better because of the number of teams in on these players; especially Stone
It's different because the Sens were limited to where they could trade Karlsson (many rosters were set in Sept) and the situation WAS different. Teams knew that Karlsson and the Sens were far apart and him returning was NOT an option. The Sens can still keep Duchene OR Stone and pay a bit more to resign them. Also Stone, Dzingel, Duchene are at the top of their game while Karlsson was coming off a poor year, including significant enough health concerns - AlfieisKing
Their return for Karlsson was disappointing but not terrible. Tierney and DeMelo are NHL players. Balzers led SJ's farm team in scoring last year and looks like he has top 6 potential. Norris - recent 1st round pick - was one of the top NCAA forwards this year before he was hurt. They have SJ's 1st round pick coming next year and the potential of another conditional 1st or 2nd still there.

I’m not entirely convinced anything will. Having said that, if I’m getting Stone, I’m signing Stone. The best player to move out for that is Connor, as he’ll get a deal he isn’t worth immediately, and is not close to the Stone we get back - Rexypoo
The Stone negotiating a contract rumors could be just signing him before a trade. Unless he (...or his family) just loves Ottawa I can't see him resigning there given Karlsson, Duschene, possibly Dzingel and this year's top 5 pick all gone. So, if we get Stone long term it seems someone of Laine, Connor, Ehlers would draw the short straw sooner rather than later. That said if we can get Stone long term just givingup Roslovic, Stanley/Poolman and a first we obviously do it and deal with the cap implications down the road. He's better than Wheeler was at 26 .....and very much a leader.... |

St. Louis and San Jose seem to be the only western teams at the moment that arn't struggling. Wpg, Nashville, Calgary, Vegas seem to be in the doldrums at the moment. Need a bounce with some new blood.
Ottawa righfully so is going to milk it to the end, but Dorion is rolling the dice on these three of Dzingel, Stone and Duchene. They get hurt and there is lost opportunity, but Dorion is doing a good job to play Wpg, Vegas, Nashville against eachother to up the price. |

Ultimate, I will always love you man for your enthusiasm .....and showing up at The Pint, but Trouba = a 7th, you're killin' me. I agree that the eye test brings him down - I yell at him more than any jet these days - but at least admit when you're poking a stick at Rexy.....😋..... |

I think Ultimate was kidding on a 7th for Trouba, .......stirring Rexy's pot if you will........
On another note, the Pint is history. Bought out by Joeys............... |

As always, it takes time to evaluate trades. As time wears on the Ottawa end of the Karlsson trade looks good. DeMelo, Balcers and Tierney (set up winning goal) all played solid games last night. Norris is a stud who was having a great year at Michigan and on the US World junior team. The Sens have one more first round pick and perhaps two in upcoming drafts.
The young guys in Belleville are surging and Batherson looks world class. Not likely Dorion does any deal for players that would slot in below some of the really strong depth of his existing prospects.
I hope Stone goes to Winnipeg. I will cheer for them in playoffs. But, I don't think the Jets can offer up the top grade prospect. Stone is a unique talent and leader. I see one of the teams that is not a part of the current conversation moving in to scoop him up. |

Karlsson trade is 2 years away from being graded, so settle down those scoring at home!
That said history tends to skew towards best player wins trade (Thornton, Seguin etc)
Jets should look at C and LHD at the deadline. The D could be someone with term and maybe the bigger of the two trades.
Laine update: just had some cereal and he’s on the milk carton so keep your eyes open |

The AHL is a developmental league. There is a limit as to how many veterans that each team can dress. If not for that restriction, AHL teams would be on par (at least ) with KHL teams.
There are only about 3 players under the age of 25 in the Top 40 KHL scorers.
Former Moose players, Sexton and Shirokov are in the Top 30.
So are Cormier and O'Dell.
It's an Old Folks Home !

he is trying to play with talent alone and not do any effort, Ovechkin was the same at the beginning, it will take time and a good coach for him to evolve like Ovi did. - Athrin
Agree with the first line but not the second.
Ovechkin was not the same at the start of his career, not even close. He skated, hit, ran guys, made bad plays etc but he skated and hit with reckless abandon and was still able to score albeit without any defensive responsibility. The aging process brought a degree of maturity to OV' sgame but OV can still skate circles around Paddy Cakes (my wifes knick name for Laine) today at his advanfed age. Not even close. |

IF Stone come signed your not getting him with that crap, it will cost Vesa, Connor + 1st and maybe more for a signed Stone. Just trade for him unsigned and sign him yourself. |

First thing: Tanev is the hot hand. He’s not a scorer, he never has been, and he won’t repeat this season’s number going forward. He isn’t worth any more than 7 digits beginning with a 1.
Second thing: Tanev has been the best forward of 2019. He’s running hot, punching above his weight class.
Scheifele has been a ghost for a while now, points or not, and he’s clearly wearing down. It says a lot about Scheifele that he’s still ludicrous when half asleep.

Connor is the obvious, if painful, short stick. I love that boy, but his deal will be a dangerous one |
