If Duchene makes it to FA he should be our main target IMO. Similar to how Tavares went to the Leafs, Duchene could have that impact in Buffalo. Duchene’s career point totals aren’t too far off of Tavares’ either and they came from the same draft. Eichel, Duchene, Mitts, Erod down the middle makes us relevant again.

I struggle a bit with acquiring a high-priced, long-term 2C.
I still see Mitts filling that roll in '20-'21...making that investment potentially problematic for them down the road.
I'd rather them find a guy for that role with a couple/three years left who can slide down to 3C .

Stone over Duchene imo
I know Stone is a winger, but he’s just that good

Also,
Those 4 centers look great on paper,
but none of them are suited for tough defensive matchups

Ya, I agree that I'd rather have Stone.
They still need a 2C in the right profile...not exactly sure who that is myown self

The Kings need help on LD so they get a nice prospect and a vet to stabilize that side and get a 1st in a good draft plus a 2nd to help their future. We get the RW we need for Eichel, a nice young player in Kempe, a tough player in Clifford that we need plus a pick that we could move down the road. Getting Clifford would mean that we can re-shape that 4th line, move Girgs or Larry and preferably waive Slobotka.

Skinner-Eichel-Toffoli
Sheary-Mitts-Reinhart
Smith-Kempe-Erod
Clifford-Larry-Tage

We could still consider moving Sheary++ and get Rakell.

Did you just use the words 'Scandella' and 'stabilize' in the same sentence?

I thought I saw something from Homie that the Kings are going to re-build so picks and prospects would go the other way. Your trade idea fits to what LA would probably want but instead of Tage I wonder if we could add Sheary or Nylander. I think there are pieces to get Toffoli and Kempe. I like Forbort as well.

Move mitts to the wing then and bring in a defensive 4th C. Get a defensively reliable RW to go on the top line. Our entire bottom 6 should be defensive oriented. Also the best defense is a good offense.

While Center is an obvious need NOW...
as long as Mitts turns out to be what we all think he can develop into,
then it’s really not an issue when thinking about the long term roster construction of the team
We (most likely) aren’t competing for the Cup next year no matter what we do
So we don’t even need Mitts to be a stud by next season
Just need him to keep improving

In the short term at Center...
E Rod has looked good since they finally put him at 3C over Sobotka
And Larsson has held his own as our defensive center

While we could certainly upgrade at those spots
(Again, since we aren’t competing for the Cup NEXT year)
It’s not really an IMMEDIATE need

If we can find the right guy, at the right price... then great
If not, we do have guys like Asplund & Davidsson coming
And would still maintain the flexibility to add the RIGHT guy when a trade or future UFA presents itself

Sure
But this above lineup looks like a better roster construction when u think about actual game play

I’d prefer other guys than some of the ones u suggest, but this seems like the right general idea

Also,
Idk that the bottom6 has to be defensively oriented?
1 of the lines, for sure
But I’d prefer the other 3 lines to be more offensively oriented,
but can still be responsible enough defensively not to hurt us
After all,
we won’t be able to play our “defensive line” all the time against other teams top offensive threats
