I have an extremely high opinion of Roslovic, so including him plus Vesalainen is a significant ask even if Stone resigned which we have no idea if he will or not. Just my opinion.
- Ross77
Fair enough. I like him too.

I like him over Laine right now, and I believe he played ahead of him tonight as well

Baby Sens have picked up 16 out of 20 points in last 10 games and are now in playoff contention.

Batherson is on fire and had 2 goals and 1 assist in last night's game.

He is having a very strong year and leads all rookies in scoring.

I like the Jets and if Mark Stone is going to be traded I would prefer he go to the Jets over most other teams.

Could not help but think how much better the Jets would be with Stone in their line up. Right now, it looks like they are missing the drive (intensity) that gets them over the next hump.

Mark Stone loves Ottawa and is a great fit for the city. The hockey business can be a cold and calculating enterprise. Long term it is probably smart to trade Stone. But, he will be missed.

if you guys could choose at this point, would you rather have Brady Tkachuk or their first rounder this year?
- jimbro83

If the pick is 1 or 2, than I think obviously they take that. Otherwise I think Tkachuk is the right move. The problem is they are most likely going to get 1 or 2.

I feel like Duchene could be the final piece to the Islanders. If he resigns I’d want Lou to make that move above all else. I think Bellows, maybe Nelson in a flip situation, 2019 #1 pick. A 2nd rounder.

I don't think that would be good enough. Dorion will ask for a first and a top prospect. Once you get into mid range all first found picks are notionally equivalent. So, it is the team that offers up the best prospect that will get the deal done. My guess is Dobson would be the guy that attracts Dorion's interest.

I really like the Islanders. Duchene is a great fit. I hope Lou finds a way to make a deal work.

WHat happens when the trades go down? Do they stay in Belleveill or get called up?

Certainly Batherson is ready.

But it sounds like they want to see a winner in Belleville.

You would assume there would be an NHL ready player coming back on the other end of the trade. My guess is they leave most of the guys down and try and make a serious playoff run with the Belleville roster.

I feel like Brown has earned a call up with this resurgent second half, but I think it may be best to let them ride out the final season in Belleville.

Personally, I think this whole thing was a ploy to keep fans interested. Melnyk is too cheap to sign these guys to what they command and are worth. He even said back at the beginning of the year that they'll be 15 new guys in the lineup by next year. Also, if you're doing a rebuild properly, you don't go half-ass, you go all out. They should move out as much as possible and get all the young assets they can. Either re-sign everyone or none. After moving Karlsson, sounds like the plan is keeping no one.

All good but swap one of appleton, Stanley, or Lemieux in for Vesalainen
Could also see another Moose player like Spacek or Harkins involved.

How are your prospects (forgive my spelling) Bathurst and fortenon looking?

- Ross77

Batherson and Formenton are like two of the only few bright spots in a sea of gloom surrounding the Sens at the moment

The NHL team is rough, but there is WAY more than those 2

Chabot, tkachuk, formenton, brown, Norris, Bernard-docker, Balcers, tychonic, white, d’accord, etc

Management and ownership are a (frank)ing tire fire, but they have a really good farm system

Agreed they should be sitting. I’m not sure why these trades take months to materialize. The nhl is the only league that apparently waits forever to make trades. Porzingas was traded within an hour. Happens in NBA and NFL often. You know your asking price. Take the best deal you can get by leveraging the demand. They should be dealt sooner than later but Ottawa knows there price tag and it’s just a matter of getting as close to it as possible.

Your argument doesn’t make sense.....

You’re saying make the trade as soon as possible, but your also saying use other teams as leverage to maximize the return. Playing other teams off each other takes time......the reason it happens fast in the NBA is that there are only ever like 4-5 teams who are “buyers”. And the deals that happen fast are never for huge name players.....those deals (see Anthony Davis ) take time

i really like the return for karlsson

demelo - 25 year old top 4 dman, who makes 900K and is a perfect fit with Chabot

tierney - young, excellent 3rd line center. either keep him and move pageau, or move tierney. could probably get a 2nd rd pick for him

balcers - kid is going to be a very good NHL player. high potential to be an impactful top 6 winger

norris - kid is going to be a stud, was tearing up the NCAA before he got hurt.

at the very least they're also getting a 2020 1st, and a 2nd....could be as much as three 1st's

i think ottawa did well in that deal

- sensarmy_11

The deal wasn’t good. He got quantity, but most of it was below avg.

Balcers - jury still out. May be an AHLr

DeMelo - would be 7th dman anywhere else. He wasn’t even initially qualified by SJ. Fringe NHLr

Tierney - 3rd liner

Norris - has potential to be NHLr. Who knows.

2 picks, TBD.

I would’ve have taken more quality over quantity. I suppose considering SJs prospect pool, they didn’t do bad. I would’ve liked to see a deal with Vegas or TB.

To Columbus

Matt Duchene (7 x 8.5m)
Mike Condon

To Florida

Artemi Panarin
Sergei Bobrovsky
*both resign long term; signing bonuses + tax free state*

To Ottawa

Jonathan Huberdeau
Roberto Luongo (retires)

Both Ottawa and CBJ get (frank)ed in that deal, and Florida is laughing all the way to the bank

I think you’re heavily undervaluing what some of those guys bring to the table.

Is DeMelo a game changing all star dman? Obviously not, but he’s a great partner for Chabot. He’s basically a 25 year old Marc Methot.

Balcers has looked great everywhere he’s played, including the NHL. Kid has legit top six potential.

Norris is a stud, believe he was on pronnman’s top 25 prospect list.

SJ 2020 pick could be huge. If they fail to re-sign karlsson and Thornton retires.......that could be a really good pick.

Does anyone else remember thinking (being positive) that Spezza was gonna land us a huge and respectable return? Yeah Paul and Chiasson have turned into solid top six power forwards for us.

Remember when we were certain Karlsson was gonna net the best return ever because he was a top three player in the league? Yeah Balcers and Bergman are tearing it up. And I'll be shocked if Norris can translate his game to the NHL level. Conditional 2019/2020 pick? Meh. I do like DeMelo.

Duchene? Stone? Dzingel? We'll move all three and have nothing more than 2 late first round picks and some AHL scraps when the dust settles.

Bring me Dorion's HEAD!

There is lot of poop written in S7S.You want me to believe that none of Stone and Duchene will be resigned or traded by the deadline and risking to lose them for nothing? Nice try but its laughable.

I have 100% faith in Dorion... that he's capable of fu(king even THIS up. I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

Even if Melnyk is in control, I've been shocked for a long time now that Dorion still has a job as a GM.

I would keep Dorion as head scout or AGM, the guy drafts really well.........but I would NEVER let him touch a trade again
