Decent goalie for the Knights in junior. Any chance at a good NHL career likely just went out the window

??? Stolarz doesn't seem very impressive going by his stats. Probably a severe downgrade, but much cheaper. Talbot's not been too good the last couple years, but he had a few good ones before that, and probably his recent struggles are not all his fault, but the teams.
Luckily the Oilers have their new goalie savior, Mikko Koskinen, so they felt they no longer needed or could afford Talbot. Koskinen, with his 32 games of NHL experience (not including 4 games like a decade ago), his stirling 0.907 sv% and 2.86 gaa, signed for 4.5m for the next 3 years after this one.

Lucky Talbot I guess. McDavid will probably be clinging to his leg at the airport begging to come with him.

Would you trade him 1 for 1 for Matthew's?

Better player, better contract. Absolutely.

I think it is a good deal for Philly too. Talbot can handle the net well enough if Hart falters.

Agreed. Matthews is an amazing player, and I'm glad the Leafs have him, but McDavid is better. He's paid more than Matthews, but for a longer time, so the contract being better is slightly debatable. It will be in the long run...

Yeah, i think the real winners here are Philly and Talbot.
If Talbot can regain the form he had his first two seasons with Edmonton, this will be a big win for the Flyers.

I feel for trade center these days. Past few years it's nothing on the day of and they start the show at 8am! It should be 11 am.

Are they mad about the trade, or do you think they will be after seeing Talbot play?

It's hard to say. Wasn't he pretty damn good his first two years with you guys? He might return to that level with a change of scenery, who knows?

It’s win win I honestly think that....Philly fans feel they should have gotten more because the trade gets us out of cap jail for Sekeras return....after that poopty Koskenin deal that was the nail in the coffin for Talbots career in Edmonton....what do you do with a UFA you aren’t resigning? You trade him.....there is a chance that Talbot bounces back....some of the failures were on him and a lot of it was the team in front of him....I hope he succeeds in Philly he was a big part in that 16/17 season

Mathews, nylander, and gardiner for mcdavid. Put brown and kap with mcdavid. Talk about a fast line. Crazy or genius lol. Oilers once upon a time traded gretzky.

Still dreaming about McDavid huh? well those are free.....btw in technical terms it was a trade but let’s call that trade for what it was....he was sold because Pocklington was cash strapped

I had forgotten he was a pending UFA. Yeah, I guess that explains things a bit for the Oilers side.

Hopefully he can rebound. When you guys first got him and he performed so well, it seemed like your team was finally going in the right direction. I had doubts about Chia's moves/plans even then, but the success seemed to be there and Talbot was undoubtedly a big part of that.

It sucks for you guys the way things have gone. Even though a lot of other fans might laugh at the Oilers situation some times, I think a lot of us would be happy to see you guys finally get some sustained success.

What was the market for goalies though? St. Louis solved their issue internally. Maybe Buffalo wants one but I doubt they deal with it in season. Same as Carolina.

I appreciate the not laughing but we deserve every bit of laughter we get at this point.....Talbot was a big part of it but like the Oilers he fell right off a cliff....as I said some of it is on him and a lot of it is on the team in front of him....as far as the future goes until they get a competent GM nothing will change.....good things going on in Leafland tho.....I really liked the Muzzin deal....maybe this is the year you guys get past the 1st round 👍

If you are referring to the Koskenin deal then yes you can say they did it because of what was going to be on the market....still tho 4.5 is a lot

Anything can happen in the playoffs, but I feel pretty good about this team facing either Montreal or Boston. If we get to play Tampa in the next round, I even think we have a chance there, and it would undoubtedly be a great series.

I thought the Muzzin trade was pretty great when it first broke, and after seeing him play a bit, I'm even happier.

I really want to see Tampa vs Toronto in the playoffs....since I don’t care about or hate either team I can just sit back and watch what would be a really entertaining series
