Probably one of the few reasons Benning was extended was because of his drafting . So I really don't see him trading the 5 th over all OJ or the 6 th over all Jake for a second round pick. THe fan and media outrage would have him fired within a week.

I think if either do get traded it would be for very decent prospects . If not, then live with your mistake and keep Jake as a 3 rd line player.

Probably true, bennings never been afraid to double down on bad decisions.

I only backread a couple of pages before posting which is when the trade was made official. Looks like only minivan had an issue with the actual trade.

Are you guys desperately looking for freakouts/hysteria that doesn't even exist yet again? I thought we moved past this man, you're a better poster than this.

The "omg hysteria" crowd has ironically become the most hysterical group of posters on this site these days. Crying about posts that don't even exist

- Nucker101

Well maybe back read a little, Vintage, NewYorkNuck, manvanfan, there are complaints of bringing in Spooner.

maybe read the posts instead of being condescending.

lol

If you think Vintage and NewYorkNuck's were negative then I don't know what to say. Vintage seemed to basically think it's a pointless/weird trade, he hardly seems disappointed by the loss of Gagner.

NewYorkNuck, like myself, seems to say that Spooner sucks and that the deal makes good sense if it's for Utica.

If those comments count as "housewives of hockey buzz" then I'm afraid you guys need to look in the mirror

Are the rest of you guys saying that Spooner is a decent NHL player? if so, please make it known now so we can mock you guys later if he ends up sucking like he has since he left Boston. No one outside of Minivan was overly disappointed by the actual deal, there's just posters saying that Spooner is another scrap to add to the pile. That's a perfectly normal response for any fanbase to have to a deal like this.

Why would I look in the mirror? You’re responsible for at least 1000 X the hysteria around here than I am.

I’ll say it again though, if the reason JB is being kept is because of his drafting acumen that needs to be revisited. Despite some of the nice later selections his high picks for the most part have been very mediocre.

yeah can't get there yet on that one. Spooner has at least shown that playing with the right players (in BOS) he can succeed at this level. Gaunce hasn't really shown any of that.
- LordHumungous

When has Gaunce ever gotten to play with good players?

Not Saying one is better than others, but man o man are you ever reaching on this one.

I'll openly admit that I've hilariously overreacted to some moves in the past, I have no issues getting made fun of or being mocked for things I've actually said in the past.

But that has nothing to do with what's happening this season in Carol's blogs.

After every move the Canucks make, there's 1 or 2 posters who say they don't like it and then there's a group that starts foaming at the mouth ready to type "omg typical hysterical reaction, stop crying, calm down, stop freaking out," and etc.

There's always just as many, if not more posts talking about how people need to calm down, stop whining, being hysterical, etc. than there are actual posts including those things.

The sad part is that some actual discussion about these moves gets swept under the carpet. Even the Oilers thread that is notorious for being "open season" has had more hockey discussion on this trade than this blog even though this trade is basically scrap for scrap and irrelevant in the long run

I never complained about spooner. I mean, I don’t really see the benefit here. We’re still stuck with a guy who is over paid for what he brings for one more season. I guess Jim doesn’t have to feel bad about sending him to the minors as he didn’t sign him, so #feelings are less hurt I guess?

WTF are you even on about, they were comments about moving on player and bringing in another.

I mentioned how one player isn’t helping the organization and the other will. Take away their names one helps the organization one doesn’t pretty bloody simple.

My other comment about your post is your “you guys”, want to talk about creating hysteria, Jesus man your a better poster than this.

Holy Fuk Benning is an idiot! First he doesn’t even bother to tell Gags he didn’t make the team, then he calls him up, making him think he’s back in the bigs, then sends him down again even though there were worse players who couldn’t even get in the lineup, now he trades the far superior player for a guy who has been traded twice already this season, and has like -3 points playing with the best player on the planet!

What a maroon!

Better?

Everything, yes absolutely everything that happens with the Canucks gets blown out of proportion on these threads. As a poster that’s been around for the better part of a decade you should know this.

There are a fair amount of calm down posts, but in true Canuck fan tradition that again is being totally blown out of proportion.

Time to move on instead of allowing this thought process to manifest throughout multiple threads.

I’ll talk to Kicksave about starting the calm down thread!

I've made it clear multiple times this season, I'm "on about" posts complaining about negativity/hysteria/whining that doesn't exist every time a transaction is made.

It's making it annoying to talk hockey and give an opinion in here. Everyone's more interested in calling out posters more than just talking hockey.

And anyone who makes a post that's longer than 3 or 4 lines or multiple posts to explains their option, is apparently freaking out over a player/transaction.

I don't mean to single you out, plenty are guilty of it, I've done it myself in the past but have tried to cut down on it.

"I don’t understand all the negative comments"

"Seriously, there are people complaining"

Even though most here had a "sure, why not" or "meh, whatever" reaction to the trade....
