All the more reason to start to part ways with other players, unfortunately they know that and somehow injure themselves so they can't be moved - Makita

Hansen #287 - A_SteamingLombardi
Yes, and players like Burrows. I think Alex is an excellent example of a perfectly developed player. 134 games in the ECHL, 107 in AHL, and a whopping 913 in the NHL. Not bad for an undrafted player. |

I think the canucks have a fine development system. For 20 years now the development system has produced when given players who can be developed.
Cooke - 144th
Ruutu - 68th
Bieksa - 151st
Kesler - 23rd
Edler - 91st
Schneider - 26th
Raymond - 51st
Hutton - 147th
Other than Kesler and Schneids, the rest were unknown commodities who were developed into NHL players by a canuck system.
Horrific drafting has handcuffed the staff responsible for getting players ready for NHL hockey. If you look at the number of players drafted who have played less than 20 NHL games, its unbelievable.
It's not like these players went on to have good NHL careers with other teams. They just didn't have the stuff to even get there. Nobody was able to develop these players into serviceable professionals. Considering the watered down quality of a 30 team league... again unbelievably bad choices. - bloatedmosquito
Totally agree. Burrows and Tanev too. |

2002 draft is a prime example of just how bad their prospect analysis was. Of the 11 players chosen by the canucks, 12 NHL games played combined. 11 of the 12 games played by those players in the NHL were for another team...
2007 draft, 6 players chosen, 0 NHL games played.
2010 draft, 5 players chosen, 1 NHL games played.
2016 draft, 6 players chosen, 0 NHL games played.
How can a development system work with prospects that don't have the slightest ability to be NHL players? |

What ever happened to Petrus Palmu? He's doing well in the Finnish Liiga. 15 points in 18 games played. +1 player.
Why is he not doing that on the Comets? Liiga is just as good as the AHL, probably a better league actually.
Anybody know the story before I start googling? |

Why is it upsetting ? - CanuckDon
I was just going on about how the canucks have maintained a good development system when given something to develop. I think the Finnish kid has potential and it's strange that he didn't get the chance to play much even though that's the farm teams purpose.
Plus I'm going through "the change" so I'm an emotional wreck right now. Bare with me, I'll be good by draft time. |
