That's a Hell of a lot to give up for a centre we don't need. Especially a rental one. Stone makes way more sense for Calgary than Duchene does, and just because a guy becomes available doesn't mean we need him.

I am still against trading our good young defensive depth for rentals, especially given how goof Kylington has been this season. We're going to have eventually figure out what to do with our depth at defense but it makes way more sense to wait until the draft to deal with it than at the deadline.

I'm fine wirh trading out any of those other assets for the right guy assuming the price is reasonable but I don't think Duchene is the guy we need. Stone makes way more sense for the Flames but even then he might cost way too much to acquure given how many teams are probably in on him.

While I think Stone is a much better fit, Duchene would be a hell of an add as well. Don't get caught up on the fact that he's a centre. Teams are much better off having too many centres because it's a lot easier playing wing if you're a centre than it is going the other way. Lindholm was also a centre.

This should be an extremely interesting deadline. There are so many elite forwards available, you can almost just set whatever you're willing to give up and eventually end up with one of them.
