Defensive errors a plenty, but could’ve had 4 goals in the 2nd. They were all over Columbus for large stretches.
- EnzoD

Dominatedcompletely for 10 minutes in the second (but only for 10 minutes).

Good goalies make the saves that Bob made - can’t really complain about “shudda had” or “cudda had” - good goalies make difficult saves.

Check the draft records the last 10 years and you will see plenty of all
Stars drafted #5-15 overall, which is where I expect the Hawks to finish

- EnzoD

Even more all stars and game changers drafted top 5.

I know it's a bad deal to buyout a player and with Seabrook having 5 more seasons they will be paying off his buyout for like 10 years - but just do it. The impact on the Cap would suck but it wouldn't be as bad for the team as having him on the ice. I love Seabs, I do, been a warrior for a long time and was a main contributor to the 3 Cups - but he's done. It needs to be over. Just pay big $$$ for 10 years and move on.

Wait and see if the next CBA allows for compliance buyouts
- Hawks_49

It won’t.

The last negotiations led to a dramatic reduction in the cap - without compliance buyouts (note that “compliance” means compliance with the cap) teams wouldn’t have been able to ice a team in 2013-14.

If Stan (McD) had any thoughts about buying to enhance the chances to make the playoffs - hopefully the defensive execution tonight extinguished the dying embers of any such thoughts. They don't have much to sell so I don't expect much from Stan's TDL moves - which is fine so long as he doesn't do something stupid.

OTT, DET, COL, DAL next week could easily be 6+ points gained.

If they win 4, he could add before 2/25. If they lose 3/4, he could sell.

Whats up B Man!?!

Cool at the game! Did they look as bad/sloppy as on the tele?

- Drgonzo399

Yes, not a clean pass made, bad turnovers, no one was aware of who was passing to who. Ward ... oh my dear lord did he suck!!!! Kane and Toews, thank God for those two. Gus and Koekkoek had great defensive games. Love the 2nd and 3rd lines even if they didn't find the back of the net. Panarin, gotta love that guy, I wore my W.C. Panarin. He was cheered for a lot.

It was funny, before the game started, Panarin and Kane were the last 2 on the ice. Kane gets off the ice and Panarin shoots it at the door when Kane closed it. Kane turns around and Panarin is standing there laughing and waving. Kane smiled, shook his head, and went to the locker room.

Damn it. Looks like the 49 game pt streak is ending tonight
- Hawks_49

Sad to see that streak end. It used to be they were the engine of a bigger machine. Now they are the machine.

Blackhawks are 24th in the league. That's about right. Five of the next six are against non-playoff teams so there might be some more W's before the schedule gets rough again.

I'm curious to see if Sikura figures out how to play in the NHL before the end of the season.

It was really funny! They are really close! It shows!

I'll say this, the hawks have a lot of holes and Artemi doesn't fix any of them, but if he comes back, I won't complain once.

Of course, but there are a lot of very good players picked in the middle of the first round: Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, Miko Rantanen, Kyle Connor, Brock Boeser, William Nylander, Nikolaj Ehlers, Dylan Larkin, and on and on. I would be very pleased with any one of those players - plus if they don't make the playoffs they will have at least one ping pong ball in the Hughes/Kakko lottery.

Whether they win against other bad teams will not change the fact the Hawks are a very bad defensive team and will get beat in a 7-game series if they happen to finish in a wild card position. Hopefully the Hawks brain trust has their collective brain engaged and won't let wins against bad teams influence what they do.

Four #1s for Edmonton - a #1 and a #2 for Buffalo - neither can find the tournament.

Top picks should mean better chances for good players - but even with them - guarantees nothing.

Right - I'm not debating that the very best players are usually drafted in the top-5 - but drafting after the top-5 doesn't guarantee that you won't get a very good player. Yes, it's more hit and miss than the top-5, but you could strike gold too.

Think big picture

In all reality you ARE rooting for them to win by wanting them to tank.

- SimpleJack

I don't see the Hawks making the playoffs, so you may be right. However, as others have said, the players aren't going to tank, so the only way to tank is if the FO and coaches do it. I don't think that helps the team in the long run, even if they end up with a top 5 pick.
Also, I did 16 simulations on tankathon before the Hawks got #1, but in 11 of them, a team jumped us. So my best case scenario is that we play well and win, but don't end up in the playoffs; however, we win the lottery to get a top 3 pick anyway!

Adding a Top 4 defender, if they can without subtracting a roster player, changes the look of this team quite a bit. Hide Seabs on pair 3 and improved defensive play for 20-25 minutes that the new guy is on the ice.

Well tough break on that 4th goal ,really seemed to take the wind out of the team sails ,what a fluke . Murph had a tough game to say the least ,he will be okay it happens . Dalhstrom has been exposed a lot lately ,maybe needs to go back down .Bring up Raddish for a look .thought it was a great move to sign that kid . AVS lost Clucks are behind and if ST.L keeps rolling HAWKS will not lose much ground ,except to the coyotes who beat the legendary Leafs . Well that's the league we live in ,going to be a mud wrestle till the end ..GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can’t beat Bob unless you get him moving side to side.

Hawks did on their two goals.

Didn’t any other time.

Posted it above - it's 81-7-5 now. They were on a winning streak dating back to October 2013 of 49 games that was blown tonight.

Yeah agreed sloppy. But Ward had a great 15 mins to start. Kinda can only put up so much.

I think Crows ready but I'm not sure if he's cleared.

I love the Gus I'm on his bus and Kookoo. I made comments earlier for such as well as the NHL is top 9. So yes love the 3rd line. Keep Arty, even next year. worth way more on this team than a second round pick.

Love the Pan but rather have Stone. Kane wants him back for the Russian girls.
