Talbot to the Flyers makes a lot of sense when you look at the details.

1) Talbot is a mentor to Hart already

2) Edmonton needs to clear cap space

3) Philly has cheaper goalie options available

I fully expect a Flyers goalie to go back in return. I would think Elliot, Neuvirth less likely. Stolarz is an option as well but I feel as if the Flyers wouldnt just trade a RFA goalie straight up for a UFA

Talbot for Elliot or Neuvirth saves Edmonton close to half talbot's cap hit and gives them a veteran goalie for their playoff push. Stolarz is more idea as he is only 700k and has played very well.

I wouldnt expect much out of a trade between these 2 teams. It will either be a 1 for 1 goalie trade with maybe a low pick added or a larger trade that shuffles bad contracts

I don't see the reasoning behind this. The flyers have Carter Hart who's looking pretty good so far. Talbot has proven to be a good backup but as a starter he's been a one year wonder so far (based on his numbers at least)

Sadly, they do.....not as poorly as some other teams, but they crap the bed sometimes. I’m just hoping Felcher doesn’t screw this up. Best cap position and talent pipeline in decades!

Any coach that was brave enough to play his backup for the first 5 shots against and then bring in Talbot for the next 25 to 30 would be rewarded. Talbot gets good after about 5 shots against, but those first 5 are a (frank)ing rollercoaster.

If the deal is Elliott for Talbot... Edmonton is sweetening the pot since they are getting the cap savings.

Hes playing behind the absolute worst defensive team in the entire league and its not even close. the oilers would make Hasek look like Ty Conklin.

It only makes sense if you get a sign and trade, which I see as extremely unlikely. Panarin wants people to "woo" him.

So the Flyers give up a 30 goal scorer, a cheaper equivalent to Talbot and a 3rd to take an over paid UFA, a severely over paid 4th line player and a 1st 2 years from now......

Can you explain why the Flyers make this trade?
