Simmonds to Toronto for Kapanen and a 2nd round pick. - Pixote Andolini
I doubt they will give up roster players. Maybe Gardiner. 😞 |

Teams scout every player and every goalie. Every goaltender is vulnerable up high and every goalie has a book on him. Did you happen to notice the goal that Giroux scored against Minnesota?
Stolarz is a solid goaltender and has show the ability to be a #2 NHL goalie to this point in my opinion. - MJL
A number 2 to a veteran goalie sure. A number 2 to another rookie that needs development and mentoring.... no. Let's get real... with everything that happened this year, is Scott, Holmgren, and Fletcher going to just go into next season with Stolarz as the backup? |

They could keep 3 goalies on the roster. I have a feeling if they got Talbot they would probably look to resign him and Stolarz would become a trade piece. - J35Bacher
I doubt they get much for him. Maybe a 3rd round pick. |

If we trade for Talbot then we risk losing Stolarz to waivers when we send him down - bulet13
Maybe they move him at the TDL?

Man you really are something else. I'm done with this. If it makes you feel better believing we all have some inner hatred for your favorite player then fine. I'll live in reality. - bulet13
Do you only speak in cliché?
You’re done with me, just like you were done with me the last time.
Why don’t you do yourself a favor because it’s clear you have no idea what you’re talking about. Stop by the board during a game if you have time. The actual two words “Simmonds sucks” every time he makes a mistake are posted on this board. So when you try to be a hero and defend something you think doesn’t happen but aren’t actually sure but accuse someone else of having a “narrative”, this makes you sound like the clueless one. In fact, I’ll type bulet13 under every post, each time it happens, just to make it easy on you. |

I’m sure that was rhetorical. But the answer is...
No, it seems they want a quality veteran to back up. Someone without significant injury history. With both starter and back up experience. Not too old. A mentor who can befriend Hart. Why, that sounds like...? |

At least now you've made some reasonable points. My point is that in my opinion, Stolarz is capable of backing up at the NHL level. Now when we look at the big picture we see the youth of Hart and the injury history of Stolarz. Certainly we don't want to get into another situation like this year if Hart should falter and Stolarz can't stay healthy. So the idea of adding a veteran to share the net with Hart makes a lot of sense in that regard. Just don't give me the book and youtube videos. |

Looking like Brian Elliott could end up being one of their best trade chips at the deadline. Seems a few PO-bound teams need insurance in net. |

I was making the same points that I was before... Look at the below quote... You just picked up the fact I said I saw holes in his game and dismissed everything else...
There is almost 0% chance that Hart-Stolarz is the duo for next year. Firstly, Stolarz has played ok, but there are obvious flaws in his game, and if Hart went down for any amount of games, then your relying on an injury prone goalie that has obvious holes in his game.
Second Hextall was eventually fired for not getting a solid goalie for this year, I'm sure Fletcher will want to cover his arse and get a goalie.
What I see next year is...
Hart-Veteran back-up like Talbot or Howard.

I think every single human being who follows hockey said that was a bad deal the moment it was signed EXCEPT Edmonton management. |

There was speculation yesterday that Simmonds might be willing to adjust his term to stay in Philly. If this is true, What would a contract be that your willing to give Simmonds if he resigns. I'm thinking 3 years @ 6.5 million and no NTC or NMC. - youarewrong

How can you say that when I just posted in agreement to your points on needing an experienced backup? I didn't dismiss anything. I just pointed out the nonsense. |
