But at 50% right? So it’s not as big of a headache but I would do that deal regardless just to move on from Lucic
- RatedR80

It's not the money then, it'd be about 4 more years of a declining player. Besides I wonder if the Flyers just couldn't go after a goalie like Cam Wars in free agency?

Then tell your GM to not do the deal obviously the Flyers have interest or there wouldn’t be a discussion....you know it takes two to have a discussion right? If you did then you would grasp that your GM has interest....I couldn't care less if Talbot gets traded or not he is gone after the season regardless and it’s not like he is going to get a great return
- RatedR80

Yeah, but it only takes 1 GM or agent and a writer they can easily dupe to have a one sided trade rumor.

Wonder if Simmonds producing points like a 4th liner at 5on5 is noticeable to pro scouts?

If only they would just look at goals/60 and pretend assists weren't points too, the Flyers could get a much better return.

- Feanor

Simmonds has 17 ES points compared to 18 by Laughton and Patrick. Can you tell me what 4th line players have 17 ES points on the season?

If Edmonton takes half, that is 3 million per year. Basically what we were paying Dale Weise. I'm ok with having Lucic on a 3rd line. Kind of reminds me of having Aaron Asham with Giroux and JVR their first year. If I can get a line of Lucic-Frost-and someone else young like Rubstov or someone like that I would be fine with that. Otherwise he can be sent to the minors and it only costs us 2 million.

Small price to pay so they don't feel like they have to overpay for Quick, Howard, or Crawford.

- youarewrong

Simple answer. Hell no! None of this makes sense. Why would the Flyers have to overpay for any of those goalies when they have Carter Hart?

Cap is based off daily accrue, I don't think they need the full 5.5m
- Glak18

Whether you use the daily cap number or the full cap number, it's the same. They need to have the daily equivalent of 5.5M in cap space to activate him. A player on LTIR counts the same against the cap as any other player. The exemption is removed.

Why would the Flyers even consider taking Lucic?

Hopefully they're not

Simmonds also gets twice the even strength time of ice as most 4th line players

There is almost 0% chance that Hart-Stolarz is the duo for next year. Firstly, Stolarz has played ok, but there are obvious flaws in his game, and if Hart went down for any amount of games, then your relying on an injury prone goalie that has obvious holes in his game.

Second Hextall was eventually fired for not getting a solid goalie for this year, I'm sure Fletcher will want to cover his arse and get a goalie.

What I see next year is...

Hart-Veteran back-up like Talbot or Howard.

Lyon-Sandstrom on Phantoms

- youarewrong

This idea of obvious holes in his game is a invention on your part. I agree that injuries are a concern but he's shown he's pretty solid.

What I cannot figure out is why people seem to gloss over the fact that Simmonds is returning from abdominal/pelvic muscle surgery this season and played through injuries all last season. It’s common knowledge that those injuries will effect play and recovery takes time and usually another offseason to be 100%. It is not about excuses. Simmonds never makes excuses for himself. It’s about being accurate in evaluating his play. I expected this to be a down season for him by his own standards. I expect next season to be far better. I don’t hold to the theory that his age is the factor either.

They are referencing points per 60 (producing at a fourth line level), not a huge fan of P/60 but figure it out man.

What he should of said is his scoring rates are that of a 4th line player, which I have brought up mutliple times but you always refute that with something about quality of competition or line mates and then I refute with the fact that Simmonds almost never plays against the opposing teams best players and fourth liners should have worse linemates than Simmonds does and still score at a similar RATE and you say false narrative or something and then we rinse and repeat

Not really a rinse and repeat. You can choose to cherry pick any one stat that suits your narrative, that's your choice. The only thing that is being repeated is you posting inaccuracies like I addressed and proved wrong on the previous thread. You're not even aware of what my stance is.

I would take Talbot back for sure but not Lucic. Even at 50% of the cap hit I dont feel he makes us a better team

Simmonds is a peice to add to a contender but IMO he isnt a must have. I believe him to be over valued. Hopefully a GM out there over values him as well. I'd 100% rather keep Simmonds and lose him for nothing than take Lucic though

Removing Lucic from the convo and just keeping it at Talbots I really don’t understand why you guys would do this....sure the media spin is that he has a great relationship with Hart but still that really doesn’t seem to be reason enough....I’m just going to wait and see what comes of it

Its not an invention on my part. Teams are scouting him. Watch the Minnesota game and Kings game. What do you notice about all the goals that he allows. There is obviously a book out on him.

We have all had the opportunity to watch Stolarz a little more lately. He seems to not be upright enough in his stance to use his size to it’s proper advantage. That becomes a disadvantage especially by the posts. He cannot seal them off as well and leaves himself vulnerable to having shots banked off him and in.

For me, his development is behind where it needs to be because of his injury history. However, he still has potential. Because he is no longer waiver exempt, his fit would be better backing up an established starter. This is why I see him traded.
