Ya that’s true. Never seem to come out hot. But they stay in games, seems to me he’s effected the players/how they play a fair bit. - neem55
Yup, it's always a good strategy to play from behind at the start of a game. That strategy was a raging success last season, too. |

I look at the conference as a whole, Canucks appear to be playing 500 hockey (and present standings show they are). But they are right in the thick of falling to the bottom.
But when i really look at the league, Vancouver is sitting in 20th place, a whole 6 pts over bottom 3-5 in the league. So I still believe that the bottom 5 is a very real possibility. - Makita
I know the points are that close and we're one EP injury away from the basement but there's something about the teams drive to win this year that is much more impressive than years past.
In the last 3 seasons if we were down by even 1 goal going into the 3rd you might as well have just turned the TV off. This year we've had several comebacks and kept many games close where previously the guys would've flopped.
I guess what I'm saying is even though we've been here before I feel this is a stronger team and they will squeeze a few more points down the stretch |

Im not promoting it as a strategy. You’re putting words in my mouth. Usually you cant keep my name out of your mouth, so I’m not surprised. Sorry though, not interested or single. |

Simple reminder if you don’t want to fight with someone, just ignore their posts and move on.
It’s known as the NFU approach.

I'd like to ask you both to stop or take it to PM. We're graced by such a terrific blogger in Carol, and this interaction really, really drags down other's enjoyment of her blogs and this forum.
Thank you.

I have to imagine that the Ducks will come out with more intensity, at least for the first couple of games. Canucks should have the advantage in net, but that D...

I think Trotz has to be the obvious Jack Adams front-runner to this point. Thru 56 games, they have 72 points, including 33 wins, after losing Tavares. Last year they finished with 80 points on 35 wins.
Of course, maybe that conflicts with the #narrative about how Tavares makes the Leafs a legit Stanley Cup contender? |

Ya, but regardless, with the nucks its about the young guys gaining experience and inconsistancies is what happens with most young guys, people tend to forget the goals set out this year was to be playing meaningfull games in feb/march. |

EP changed expectations and they are now playing meaningful games after the all-star break. That mission has been achieved.
to be honest, I don't see strong positional play (especially in the defensive zone) and the break-out / entry on the power play is so predictable it hurts. I'd like to think it is simply mistakes by the young guys, but see it with the more experienced players as well. If they can't execute some basics in their own end, the coaches need to simplify their systems.
I'd exclude Clarke's work with the goalies from this -- he's really helped Marky this year. |

I'd be shocked if he didn't win, assuming they don't implode and miss the playoffs of course |
