with olli maata out and the pens said to be looking for d-depth, wonder if they'll consider sabres--hunwick, beaulieu...Scandella?
- Michael Pachla

I'll give them all three of those players for a #1 Combo meal at McD, but I would insist on Super sizing it.

I know. to my dismay, I agree with him. Not only do I think Skinner does not sign before the TDL, I don't think he signs here at all. I believe that we end up losing him for NADA in return. Just my gut feeling....

the sabres (three picks, no first rounder) and pu for skinner and his 40+ goals...plus they had that great run in November and (hopefully) they'll be in the thick of things well into march...

not a bad return already for what little they gave up

Still, I think all hell breaks loose in Sabreland if this happens again. I still dont think anyone is still fully recovered from the summer of '07

Was wondering about that with Hunwick. If we trade him the 4th turns into a 3rd, but what if he was traded back to Pittsburgh? Anyway, there would probably be bad blood there for trading him in the first place.
- adambuffalo

send him to Pittsburgh along with a seventh rounder, buffalo keeps their conditional fourth and we call it even?

Send him to another team for a 3rd, Sabre’s loose nothing?

agreed...it would be a huge loss and many would have flashbacks...however, skinner holds all the cards with the nmc...sabres won't blindly back up the brinks truck...I'm sure they have their limits

The way the Sabres are playing recently is reminiscent of the 2012 Kings. Above average talent, would never win in a shootout, but suffocated offenses to a Cup.

Mark Stone and Taylor Hall wouldn't suck on July 1.

Anyway, Skinner will be signed once he's able to get the 8th year. If they can't come to a deal, he'll be dealt to the contender of his choice. He's been treated very well here, and i don't think he would screw the Sabres by saying "I'm not signing and I won't leave"

Pittsburgh gave us Sheary to take Hunwick. For a 4th. I hardly think the Pens want Hunwick back.

What do we have 12 days left?

I think if we hadn't reached our limit, he'd already be under contract. I'm starting to think he's walking too. Shame. He seems well liked, he's certainly getting some help on the stats sheet from Jack, would've thought he'd stay.

After Skinner, this team can fit one more large contract (long term). Certainly not two, unless your intention is to send Reinhart to NJ for Hall.

I like the idea of sending Hunwick back rather than trading Blow-you there...in fact I'd tell Pitt Blow-boy isnt avail to them...just to dump Hunwick's contract.
Then trade B-B somewhere else for anything...
Maximize those assets!

He can't sign an 8-year deal yet. There would be no reason for him to sign for anything less

So they could sign Jack Johnson...

They thought Maata could stay healthy. Didn't happen. They might not be opposed to getting a player back that knows the system and won't cost zilch to acquire. He actually wasn't awful yesterday.

Reinhart is 2 points away from setting a career high in points, and after a 0.61 ppg pace last season, is now at 0.88 ppg pace, which is almost exactly the same as the 0.89 ppg pace he set last year post Jan 1. I can't imagine his numbers not continuing to rise with the improvement of CM.. he's able to stock up on points with Eichel, but can definitely do it on his own as well.

Well we're the only team he can sign 8 years for, if he's not signed by the 26th, it's over right?

He can't sign the deal until the 25th though. Botterill keeps things very quiet

There could definitely be reasons why he wouldn't and the Sabres wouldn't want an 8 year deal. He'd have a shot at one more solid contract if he did a five year deal.

How are you getting Taylor Hall on July 1?
