If you recall the line of Erod Larsson Girgs was lights (frank)ing out during our 10 game win steak. I really think breaking up that line hurt us.
- feetontheair22

Girgs-Erod-Pominville was our best 4th line imo. 2 out of the 3 played their way off that line

I'd say 37 points in 80 games last year is a "point producer". And a +34

27 is borderline/ youngish. Especially for a defenseman.

- Boss34

15pts his 1st year
17pts his 2nd year
37pts last year
17pts (on pace for) this year

I think we can safely say that last year wasn’t the norm for Manson

And true
I wouldn’t really call him young
But he should have at least another 5 good years of play left
Acquiring a younger guy would be better of course- But it’ll also cost us more
I think Manson would be a good add

We were seriously a joke last season.

On purpose

The joke was on me. Spent 130 bones on Gamecenter.

Im a big Trouba fan. I knew what he was about before the game I saw live, but to me he was the most impressive player on the ice that day. Physical, can make a first pass, skates extremely well for his size, and most of all RHD. He would be the perfect partner for Dahlin.
- Pegullaville

I would love to build around
Dahlin
Trouba
Risto
McCabe
Pilut

And a different head coach

One thing to keep in mind...
who do we protect in the expansion draft?

Or at least...
what are we giving up to Seattle so they don’t choose a guy we wanna keep?

Botts should be thinking about that while building this roster

Because bringing up specific names just begs for ppl to say crap like “he was always a pipe dream”

Here’s the bottom line...
Don’t say we the odds of us trading for a good young player are slim,
then turn around and advocate for us to do so
It’s ridiculous
Can’t have it both ways

The whole point of ppl saying they’d move a 1st is CLEARLY in the case that it’s possible to make that type of trade
If it’s not, then we’d keep the picks
You’re welcome

- jdfitz77

I said the odds of trading for that player is slim not impossible. Therefore the odds of us making a beneficial trade that doesn’t destroy our asset base is also slim. The odds of us drafting the players we need are slim. Botts is trying to make a hockey trade that benefits that helps the future of this club and nothing has happened. I think we’d be better off with the picks just like we’d be better off with Roslovic, Lemieux, Compher and Zadorov. Trouba is different because it would take 3-4 years to draft and develop a RHD. Forwards can be drafted and playing on this team in 2 years which is a heck of a lot different then a RHD which is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

Nylander says hello

Absolutely not
That’s a horrible trade

- jdfitz77

The SJS pick will likely be roughly 25, and the Wild 3rd will be 115ish

Nylander is going nowhere.

Move down 80 spots and pick up a desperately needed 3C. Still pick twice in the 1st

What kind of gum do you think Phil chews? Aaron Hernandez Blue Cotton Candy Bubblicious? Or does he get Bazooka Joe for the deep and witty comics?

Coyle for a 1st- we overpay
Nylander for a 3rd- we sell way low

Dude... that trade is horrific

I would t even do Coyle + a 3rd for the SJ 1st

You don’t give up 1sts for 3rd liners...
period

But you avoided Tkchuk, Keller, Sergachev, Jost, McAvoy, Chychrn, Cholowski, Borgstrom, Tage, Federic. Steel, Bellows, Brown should be NHLers next year. There are more hits then misses in that draft. I won’t even touch 2015 cause that ain’t fair. 2014 had a huge success rate. 2017 and 2018 will have more hits then misses.
It’s up to the scouting staff to identify those players but they will be available.

No team is trading a 3rd for Nylander. He's a throw in. He has 9 goals.

The one prospect we should of traded and he’s the only one left. Thank you GMTM you’re services will be missed.... Chychryn, McAvoy, or
Sergachev would look great in Blue and Gold

If that’s all he’s worth,
then I’d still just keep him & see what happens

Better chance that a former Top10 pick just took longer to develop into a good player than a random 3rd round pick would develop into a good player for us

Malkin has higher PPG. Neither player would be of any use to Buffalo in 2-3 years when we would need those players to be in their primes and contributing. If the Blues don’t make that trade they sell off Schenn and finally start the rebuild they have needed for quite some time. Guess it’s the price to pay for being good but never great. Hughes would have looked good there.

Of course
Yet EVERY team has plenty of misses
No evidence that Botts is some mad genius that’ll be different

Coyle had 56 points two years ago, and is on pace for 40 this year.

His 28 points would make him 4th on the Sabres in points right now.

If u play him on line2,
then he’s extremely low end in that role

Why would u wanna give up a 1st for that?
Sorry dude
Makes no sense to me

And I’m guessing it makes no sense to anyone else here either
Bc if it did,
there’s plenty that would jump to your defense over me

Coyle would be a good 3rd liner
But u using a 1st round pick to acquire that is terrible asset management

We didn’t even give up a 1st for Skinner
Sure, that’s probably an exception
But it’s better to make no trade than to make a bad one
