It's a down year, hall has been hurt all year and Schneider's play fell off the face of the earth. Last year was an overachievement and everyone knew it. This team is going to get another high draft pic which is exactly what it needs, I'd rather get a top 3 pick then get a first round knockout of the playoffs anyways.
The oilers are in a much much worse state than this team and they have McDavid lol at least the devs are in a great spot salary cap wise.

Only problem with that thinking is if 1 guy being hurt cripples your team this bad you have major problems with your entire organization . And with the lack of talent we have Taylor Hall is highly unlikely to be a Devil in 2021. Could not blame him one bit for going to an actual Stanley Cup contender!

As long as it doesn't turn into a John Tavares like situation it'll be fine. If we sign him long term, wonderful. If he wants to become a free agent we need to get some assets for him by next years trade deadline.

Smith Severson
Yakovlev Murphy

With Greene being the healthy scratch until injuries occur. Mueller and Santini can be the top pairing in Binghamton. Colton White is having a very good year in Bing as well. Frustrating that Butch hasn't really been thrust into the top role. What is there to lose? Why keep starting inferior D every night hoping that they (LJ and Greene) can start finding their game?

Huge expectations for Smith. Kid is a stud about to shatter every D record in the WHL this season. He needs to thrown right into the top 4 like Dahlin. And we can always take a stab at EK65

I didn’t see the fancy stats, but from the eye test Murphy looked pretty good against the Canes and he wasn’t a part of the Blues debacle. Why play Mueller, Lovejoy and Santini unless you are showcasing them for a trade?

The insistence on putting two slower and weak puck handling defenders together (Mueller-Santini) just seems to make no sense. Either put Murphy or Yak with one of them.

As for Lovejoy, he's struggled enough that I can't see him having any trade value. Maybe they're just trying to get as much play for the money out of him before he's done.

Not trying to defend Oil90's ill-attempt at trolling, but Larsson was a beast for us during the 2017 playoffs. He led the team in avg. TOI and points (among defensemen).

Not to mention he had a GWG that gave us an early series lead against the ducks, followed by playing 44 minutes (10 minutes more than any other defender!) in a very close game 5 that took 2 overtimes.

Nobody is trying to crap on Larsson and say he's not a good hockey player and quality defender. But from a value perspective it was a pretty lopsided trade. The Oil probably deserved an added pick or prospect to make it more equitable.
