I love Malkin, he is intense. That's hockey when it's good. I don't often agree with Grinder but in this case, I do.

#71 is awesome. Hope he rebounds and gets back to his Machino way

Not like Feds does any work from his mom’s basement anyways.

I hear he sits on his ass and tracks events and shot attempts and then enters them into spreadsheets.

Not saying what he did is okay by any means. However no one said anything about Connor cross checking Chad in the face/head area yesterday. One is worse but they both are dangerous and illegal. Why wasn’t that a penalty? Why wasn’t the punch to the back of his head? The officials need to be held to a standard same as the players. They let games get way out of control and decide to try and get control when someone tries to take someone’s head off. I can see myself loosing my mind any time someone wanted to hit me in the head they could. like I said not okay but I still understand why he did it.

One of my buddies from college just graduated from ND law this past year and is JAG now in Hawaii. He was infamous in our group of friends for being the king of straw men when he argued absolutely anything. I don’t think you have to actually be good at arguing to be in law these days unless you want to be a trial lawyer.

A punch would be far better than a stupid stick swing up high. I don't think you'll get any arguments on that unless they go the 'he could break his hand like ZAR did' route.

Imagine how good at fighting Malkin would be if he trained a little. He should train with Jerome Iginla and start beating the piss out of anyone that crosses him. Win the Art Ross with most PIM and FM in a season. Beat the fuc k out of Ovi for bragging rights in the mother land. Tape your wrists and make a fist correctly and chances of breaking your hand are slim.

Even if Malkin were a trained fighter, would he be able to beat Ovi in a fight? Weight class has a lot to do with it and Ovechkin is huge.

EDIT: Just looked it up. Ovi has 35 lbs in Geno. Malkin could bulk up considerably and still be at a disadvantage.

I really don’t think size and weight in a hockey fight matter too much. Rick Rypien beat the poop out of guys taller and heavier on the regular

So Minnesota has said they are open for business now... Staal would be an obvious fit but likely has the Pens blocked.

They are also the destination I'd guess Kessel would be traded to if that ever happened. So...

Kessel & Johnson for Brodin and Zucker.
Would you? Would they?
A downgrade in scoring offset by an upgrade on the back end plus dumping a bad salary. Not sure.

Gonna ship out one of our best players just to rid us of Johnson... rather blow our 1st round pick to dump him.

Malkins being a hockey player. I know a lot of you feel that since you’re so sensitive to violence and anger that the players that play in the nhl are too. They simply aren’t. I like every word Geno said. It’s the truth. If a Flyer comes at him for it on national television I would love to see him throat punch him.
- Grinder47

If Malkin had punched Raffl, we wouldn't be having this convo...and I would have said that Raffl deserved it.

You are doing it to get depth in a real top 4 LD and a top 6 lw. Getting rid of a bad contract would be icing on the cake.

Why do you think Staal would have Pittsburgh blocked? As far as I know him and GMJR had a good working relationship in Carolina.

Not all top 6 wingers are equal. Kessel is a top-line winger masquerading as a middle-6.

Again, it's not ideal, but this team won with Ron freaking Hainsey playing on the top pair. Mattaa should be back by the playoffs, you can survive JMFJ on the bottom pair.

Allegedly he's blocked almost entirely playoff contenders that would be interested in him because he doesn't want to move.

But you also have to give up what is one of the best value contracts on the team. Then you also have a problem with 4 NHL left shot D, and none of those are capable of playing the right.

Like Bingo said, he was blocking all contenders but good point about him and JR. Maybe there is something there.

Yeah, I fully understand that you are taking a big downgrade going from Kessel to Zucker. Just thinking the benefit you get on the back end would offset it. Also fits into the getting younger players under contract theme.

Well you go from 1 top pair LD and 3 third pair LD to 1 top pair, 1 second pair and 2 third pair.

Really, the problem with the trade I was proposing was they don't have a great right shot option to fill Kessel spot on the PP. Schultz maybe?

I'm not sure he'd be too keen on getting back in bed with Rutherford considering how long JR made him try and drag the bloated carcass of a hockey team that the Hurricanes were for so many years.
