Half of my friends think Gardiner is a divisive figure.

Even more frightening:

20 years ago today, the Leafs played their last game at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Today's trivia: who scored the last NHL goal there?

Conference finals or to me it's a disappointing season.

I'll be happy if they break the first round curse, anything else is a bonus.

Dougie g?
I seem to recall seeing that in one of those large pictures auctions you see in some grocery stores

Edit: nope just looked it up, dougie did score A goal but not the final. Probert it was.

I had completely forgotten that Dougie played in that game...

...for the Blackhawks.

Was the Compher crosscheck to Dermott's head real bad? Didn't catch a replay but in real time it looked like something that deserved a game or two.

Dermott got backup and didn't miss a shift. The NHL will do nothing.

However, they gave Compher a high sticking penalty. That was 100% a cross check to the head. It should have been a 5 minute match penalty for targeting the head.

I didn't see it, but the box score has it as high-sticking (double minor). So can I assume there was blood?

Yes. A crosscheck to the head that drew blood... at least that's what it looked like.

Zaitsev giving it away way more and playing horrible, yet playing more.

Hainsey and z need to be playing a lot less and Dermott and muzzin should unequivocally be getting more time.

- burn

Sure and they will, but not last night after some freebies..Muzz looked tired a bit too. Nothing wrong with their usage last night for the most part.

Because it's a snow day, I'm not worried about Sparks as a back up. However I'm concerned Dubas thinks hes the future. McClennan talked about him last year after winning best goalie in AHL. He doesnt think Sparks will ever be a starter and said that a lot of goalies win that award that amount to nothing in the NHL.

Ah Jakie Boy. The one of the Leafs best dman who's the only guy that you can't trust killing penalties (Dermott gets a bit of a pass because he's only been around 1 year) or trust to be put on when defending a lead in the last 2 minutes because he can't defend? The "high risk - high reward" guy that the high reward part is currently 2 goals and 27 points? That guy?

Yeah, not for me. If you have to shelter a guy who's been in the league 8 years because you simply cannot trust him to defend, and he is a defenseman, I'd rather not waste everyone's time.

He's their 4th, possibly 5th best defenceman. He'd probably be our 4th best winger if that's any consolation.

I'm not one of the ones who'll blindly just accept the multiple errors, lackadaisical, sloppy plays every game because it's just Jake being Jake.

- walshyleafsfan

When you call him out 4th best winger, everything else you say goes right out the window 😳he’d be a terrible forward IMO

He's said this many times in the past.

I think typically goalies that have NHL futures get worked into the NHL lineup before they can acquire such accolades as AHL regulars.

I miss the gardens...

no sushi bowl, beer cost less than a car payment, nothing like sitting in the end blues or first row Reds between the blue lines...

many fond memories.

Taking out the oldies

Ages when winning

Sparks 24 (backup)
Murray 21 (Starter)
Allen 23 (mediocre #1)
Bernier 21 (backup)
Schneider 23 (was a great starter)
