This whole backup thing is wierd to me..do the leafs not have hutch down playing with the marlies? Is he so bad that they have to go and pick up yet another goalie...looked good when he was playing

Yeah, not sure how I feel about Sparksy at this point. The numbers test is fine for a backup. The eye test is not.

On that lob shot from the point on Sunday, he basically went down on his knees and waived his arms around like he was saying "I surrender" instead of tracking and saving the puck.

I think the Leafs waive Sparks if he can't show that he can have a solid game most of the time down the stretch.

Sparks' numbers are slightly better than any that Suckstavsson put up in the NHL

Man if Sparks would onnly learn not to drop to his knees automatically and instead try to react to the shots coming at him we wouldn't have this backup goalie controversy.

I think Connor Brown is definitely the odd man out and wouldn't be surprised if he became the next Steve Sullivan. Either way, tough decisions ahead.

I also don't think we could get Dougie Hamilton without giving up Johnnson, Kapanen, Liljegren or Sandin so I'd say no deal. Maybe if we could pre-emptively trade Gardiner for a 1st(not happening) we could piece something together but CAR would still want one of our young forwards so I guess that's not happening.

Oh, and 4-2 Leafs tonight

Easy there, Raycroft was an accomplished goalie who's franchise record stood for an astonishing 11 years

I'd include Johnsson in a trade for Hamilton

Truthfully it really shouldn't matter much - he's a back up. Last two games he's lost, against Florida and NYR - two teams that seriously smell like ass, the offense generated one goal in each game. The win in between was against the Pens, and he was decent.

So at this point is Kapanen > Johnnson?

Hard to say. I kinda like Johnsson's nose for the net.

I like them both, but Kap's younger, and I would think he's the fastest skater on the team.

Yes Kap's got a couple years on Johnsson, and is 6'1 as opposed to 5'10.

Johnsson has arbitration rights whereas Kap doesnt. I bet it plays a part in any deal going forward.

I prefer Kapanen's nose. Johnnson's is very flat.
