I doubt it's Marner's fault the pp sucks. It's too predictable and I doubt that's cause he has run out of creativity. They are following instructions. The coach in charge of the power play needs to change things up or just tell them to do whatever the (frank) they feel like.

For sure. No one has been playing the PP well. It's just that the PP runs through Marner, so he sort of dictates whether it's gpnna be a good PP or not.

Kadri is wasted there. May as well go with 4. Rielly will only pass to Marner. Marner can't get it to Matthews. And Tavares doesn't know where to stand really.

I'm a bit skeptical about this theory it's the coaching. I mean I don't know for sure, but this is the NHL. It's not a school team where the coach played 2 games in the ECHL. Surely the players have input. You gotta think they talk it out with Tavares. He's a decent player. There's no way, with the ability of Tavares, Marner and Matthews that the coach is restricting them to one single play over and over.

If that were the case,the coach would've lost them by now and they'd be doing what ever they want. But they're not doing any of that.

Kadri is wasted on the pp unit because he doesn’t touch the puck ever. It’s basically 4 on 4 and he skates like they’re going to eventually let him touch the puck.

Do you really see all these intelligent, highly creative, offensive players, repeatedly making the same failing plays on the pp over and over despite failure, entirely of their own volition? If it was up to them, surely they'd be trying different strategies. It's gotta be the coaching strategy. They are doing what they're told.

I don't know. I don't recall ever seeing a PP unit that has only ever done one thing. They had more creativity under the same coach previously. Kadri was scoring a lot on the PP. JVR was. Even Bozak potted a few.

If it truly is the coach, I really worry about the team's leadership that they would still be doing this over 2 months later. Can no one speak up?
