So if the Flyers score the Stanley Cup-winning goal but it gets missed and they go on to lose the series, you'd just be, "Ho hum, them's the breaks." I wouldn't be. - jmatchett383
I wouldn't like it, but I would deal with it, because the alternative, which we have now, is a giant cluster f that doesn't make anything better.
Take last night, for example. The ref clearly got it wrong and it 100% cost the Flyers a goal. It's indisputable. I was angry. But that's the way it goes: played by humans, officiated by humans.

I'm all for removing the offsides video review, but not the goal review. Just my opinion.

I'd be willing to deal with that if: the video evidence is clearly and obviously conclusive - no micrometer nonsense; and it can be determined in under 30 seconds.

But see, that one happens. That was poor positioning from the ref. The could could not have counted because he had (erroneously) blown the play dead. I'm talking about plays where the question is whether or not the puck completely crossed the line during play.
And if you are going to have video review, stop using screens smaller than the old CRT I had in my bedroom when I was 10. Just install a 50" plasma that they can see.

I know. But last night was infinitely more egregious than an offside play that was one millimeter offside 30 seconds before a goal was scored. They arbitrarily determined which scenarios are review-able and which aren't - and it doesn't make things more right.

Yeah, those iPads aren't in keeping with their stated goal of "getting it right."

Even though the ref got it wrong, it was great salesmanship by Murray. As soon as the puck hit his glove he brought his glove down like he had it. I don't know if he purposely did that, but I watched it a few times and I can see how the ref got it wrong by Murrays actions and, of course, the ref being out of position. S happens I suppose.

Possible, but Murray was having glove problems all night making the quick whistle even more egregious.

S always seems to happen when you play the penguins
My thoughts on the high stick is that it should be a 25+ game suspension. NHL needs to cut the bull **** from the games. Stuff like that isnt a hockey play, it is an intent to injure regardless of what the other guy did first. Any intentional swinging of the stick at a persons heat should be an automatic 25 games. I said the same thing with Duncan Keith and I think there was 1 other incident the year before that.
I understand the reason JVR was fined. He was careless with his stick. However intentionally swinging your stick at someone is unacceptable. Malkin thinks he shouldnt get suspended becuse he missed..... Yea I tried to knife a guy the other day so I shouldnt get arrested because I missed him.

Just when I thought I couldn't agree with James Tanner any less, he trashes the original Evil Dead. - jmatchett383
Evil Dead II is the better movie.
I still haven't checked out the TV series tho.

That's absurd. What kind of deterrent is that? They had a chance here and they blew it! Again! - MJL
Can't say that any of us are surprised. The league continues to baby the stars like Malkin who think and now know they can literally get away with anything they want. This is when I wish the Flyers had an old school goon they could dress just for the Stadium Series to lay Malkin out. I don't wish injuries on players, but I'll make an exception for Malkin. Dude has it coming. I'll buy a damn Tom Wilson jersey if he does it, that's how much I'd love to see it.
Only 1 game for Macaulay Malkin! Good looking people always get a better shake.

The most bothersome thing is Malkin’s comments. Said he didn’t expect to be suspended and it’s not like I broke his face. Clearly he thinks he’s above the rules and player safety. They should have dropped the hammer after those comments. Instead they agreed with him.

What was worse? What Gudas did or what Malkin did?
