I love how people are mad at Babs for the pp.

It’s Jim Hiller.

Those two people that stand beside Babs? Yeah they aren’t just there to look pretty

I do. I think kap is a keeper. Especially with the muzzin trade done and with sandin and liljegren in the pipeline.

Nah. I don’t see Dubas ripping apart the team.

Zaitsev and Brown. Those are two players that I can see Dubas trying to move.

Maybe a move can be made with Ferland...the Canes might not want to “sell” him.

The Leafs can offer up Brown in a package. He can help them win now but if the Canes don’t make the playoffs they can always deal him for a 2nd at the draft.

Then with all the scouting that’s been done with the Marlies and Checkers maybe there can be a prospect swap as well. Bracco and one of Carolina’s D prospects.

Last year they had the same setup but had more than one play. This year the only thing they do is cross seam pass, even when it's taken away. They're forcing plays that aren't there. They need another play so that if #1is taken away #2 is available.

They are even getting eaten up on the drop pass because everyone knows it's coming. Habs intercepted or broke up the pp drop pass every single time last night.

Too predictable.

- burn

Both Reilly and marner have been very predictable on the pp.

Yeah, that's a terrible trade.

Gardiner and Pesce are basically a wash: one's better defensively and a RH shot; the other is better offensively by a wide margin.

And we're basically trading Kapanen for Brown?

Hiller runs the PP.

It’s pretty simple. Just like any job just because your boss overseas you, that doesn’t mean he’s fully responsible for your failures or success.

Mornin'

Pipin' hot gravy takes:

- Matthews needs to shoot more.

- Muzzin's so good in his own end; he can just absorb hits and calmly one-hand it up to the waiting winger; saw him do that a few times.

- Marner did not have a good game outside of the winner.

- Hainsey looks really good on the 3rd pairing.

- Zaitsev had a good game, besides that backhand over the glass; nice to see him shoot more, get engaged offensively.

- The 4th line with Johnsson (and Hyman for a few shifts too) was really good. As much as Johnsson needs more ice-time, having him as a sneaky threat on the 4th line is ok too.

- gravyface

Agreed, hainsey is much better on 3rd line.
It was a nice shot by Z, but he still needs to work on his game imo. But was ok.
Marner was decent, not sure why everyone expects him to be awesome every game?
He made some mistakes granted. It happens
Overall, outside of the 1st period, it was a messy game on both sides

Well actually he is responsible, ultimately. Part of the fun of being a boss.

Sure. He gets the heat.

Which is perfectly displayed in comments on here.....

But when you think logically, Hiller is the mastermind behind the PP. and Babcock didn’t seem to happy with him last night.

Put two and two together and maybe realize Babs might be on your side on this.

No doubt the ultimate responsibility lies in Babs court - he is the boss.Hiller was hired to do a job - the same job he was hired to do for the wings, so Babs loyalty to his friends/staff may be the problem. Not sure where the Wings PP ranked with Hiller there, but the Leafs PP last year was right up there. Is the addition of Snakes creating too much stress for him - like who is the trigger guy, cuz there's almost always a couple specific shooters.

Anyway, not sure how you strip all the speed, skill, creativity, and intelligence away from these guys and expect success. What they are doing on the PP right now is not natural to them...let them do their thing. They are making it easy for the PKer's.

Seems like his ceiling is way up there. Not too many players with that offensive talent who can defend as well as he can. I'd be sad to see him go.

I hope you're right...tough to do though, but that's what he's getting paid for, right?
Any suggestions for a replacement?
Or we can at least hope Hiller pulls his head out of his ass and involves those specific players in creating some form of plan.

My plan would involve mayhem...lol.

Lets vote Kaps into the All Star game next year so we can see it...
