False! He wanted Hossa, but he Also wanted to keep Havlat. He offered him a one year deal or a low ball multi year deal can’t remember which, but saying a GM actually didn’t want a guy he signed will require actual evidence before it should be considered remotely believable.

That's fair. Maybe we could extend the same consideration to the urban legend presented as fact that Bowman passed on two second rounders from the Stars for Sharpie that was only ever reported here...by JJ.

Question
How many nfl kickers could hit the uprights 4 times in a row out of 100 kicks?
None, so
Can we stop this ‘can’t win th cup mentality?’
Fact is - if you can beat a team once you CAN beat them 4 out of 7
Find a team we CANNOt BEAT and lets talk

And for all you tankers out there- there’s a thing called the integrity of the game
You heard it here first:
Hawks will win the cup this year

- Kewl1

LOL

Hawks will probably eek their way towards the middle of the pack, just miss the playoffs, forfeit their chance at drafting top 3, and gain absolutely nothing in the long term.

We’d be much better off losing and drafting as high as possible. There’s much more to gain(thinking long term, next season and beyond) by tanking than there is winning meaningless games that will inevitably leave us in no mans land(aka not good enough to win, not bad enough to acquire the high-end caliber young talent needed to complete a rebuild).

Patrick Kane is very entertaining and I'm curious to see how Strome, ADB and some of the other guys develop.

Buffalo, Colorado, Edmonton has done it a few times.

The time table on any of their prospects is two to three years before they're contributing probably. The jump right to the NHL has worked so well for how many B level prospects or college signings? DeBrincat? Saad struggled straight away.

Adding a top 4 pick gives them a now NHL player, especially the first two, for cheap. More money to buy or it makes another asset expendable to get a top pairing defender. This is much better then a 3 to 4 years from now player.

Getting that type of player has a much bigger impact on the Toews and Kane window then a medicore showing in the playoffs.

Id like to see 4-5 years of a good team rather then 4-5 of whatever Detroit was while their guys aged.

Idk, I think it's apples to oranges. The Hawks cratered faster after winning Cups while it took the Wings 7 or 8 years? to miss the playoffs and get a top 10 pick.

As much as people bash the Hawks for not developing dmen they've been addressing it recently and seem to have some lights at the end of the tunnel. The Wings have been absolutely horrible at drafting and developing dmen.

Agree what i have saying all a long finally someone is looking at the big picture here for the to compete for the cup need to draft in the top five this coming draft. Step one has been accomplished setting foudation and new culture by JC NOW step 2 play competitive hockey and finish in bottom 5 to hopefully pick a player that make a impact next season step 3 offseason wait and see on that one. Next year could be the year where the hawks be a team nobody wants to play especially in the playoffs. Bowman and company have a lot work to do stay course keep building for the future.
