Duchene (6M expiring) for Maatta (4.3M for 3yrs), McCann (1.25M for 1yr), 2019 1st, and maybe throw in Dominic Simon (750k for 1yr).
I wouldn't do it, but it could happen. - Pens22
Sooo you want Jack Johnson taking over the #4 spot? Duchene isn’t worth that nightmare. |

we'll take Jack Johnson and give you Ceci in return.
Both teams will live in a wonderful world of Disney where they believe they got the better player. |

Read the part that says I wouldn't do it. Just saying that when a GM wants something, there's no telling what they'll do and GMJR's #1 wish is the best 3 Center line up in the NHL.
He screwed up with the JJ contract, and it would take a miracle to get out from under that. |

Here is the problem with that.
Duchene is looking at likely a $8.5M-$9M for 8 year pay raise. So keeping him would be a bigger issue for the Pens than it would be for the Sens.
and other than the 1st (Which would be a very late first) Ottawa doesn't need any of those players.
Your top prospect you had was Sprong and he's gone. Pens have a fantastic team now but they haven't restocked for the future. |

That will make Marner's upcoming deal (prob in similar range) look like the bargain of the century, if true. |

If Toronto can get Matthews for 11.5 over 5 then Marner will most likely be between 10-10.5 over same span. I assumed last year around 22m for both. |

Matthews - 72M for 6yrs
Marner - 57M for 6yrs |

If Parayko is actually available, the Leafs HAVE to be in on this. I know they are saving the last of their cap room for the bonuses they will owe this year so it means money in must equal money out. The Leafs have the prospects and players to make a deal like this work |

Cap space doesnt matter with duchene. As a ufa, i believe only the remainder of his salary counts against the cap if traded. |

Sadly for Blues fans, that level of dumbassery no longer exists in EDM's front office.

Marner is on the same path as Kucherov for future production and many teams would love to have Kuch on their team for 11-12M. If Marner's agent is smart 10M is the discount. |

Could be...
But you are talking about a guy who has achieved 80pts plus twice and 100pts once in his young career - still only 25.
As good as Marner is, he has not hit those numbers as of yet.
I think he gets 9.5M but maybe 10M is possible. |

Couldn't agree more, I think Marner is taking no less than 10m. But if you're a leafs fan, better to have too many good players causing cap problems than plain bad contracts and being a low-mid tier team *cough*BUFFALO*cough*
EDIT: HELLUVA contract for Matthews |

But you are looking at a player who achieved those numbers after 3 years in the league. Marner is on pace for over 80 points this year in his 3rd season, Kuch just finished his second 60 point campaign in his 3rd year. I look at that as Marner a year ahead of Kuch. |

100% propaganda, fans say it thinking it will drive the price up because they could stay
Duchene and Stone are the least complicated re-signings you can have. There is no negotiations for term or salary. Either the team doesn't want to pay them or the player doesn't want to play with the team anymore...there is no middle ground. - Glak18
Erik Karlsson was also said to want to stay in Ottawa long-term... and we all know how that turned out... unless he signs here as a free agent in July and Dorion looks like a genius. And that's TOTALLY happening. |

Duchene for Turris. Book it. - RafiDRW
No no no no no no no. Duchene, Ottawa's 2020 1st, and Alex Formenton for Turris. Don't you know anything about how Pierre Dorion does business?
Also, if Brassard is available too (being flipped by Florida), Ottawa will give you Gustavsson and a package of prospects and/or picks.
