Based on what? - Feds91Stammer
I'm not a Cody Ceci fan but he has stayed in Ottawa way too long. He's not a top pairing D-man and he needs to play with a defensively minded D-man; not someone that hasn't played a single season in the NHL.
To answer your question, based on the times he IS placed in the right position (yes Phaneuf was stable enough for him) he is a valuable player. He's a right shot big body that can move the puck well. He need's the right coach and system that utilizes the skills most hockey execs know he has; I believe on a team with a strong top pair he would supplement them very well. There's a reason he was in trade rumors for Drouin |

The same could be said about Ron Hainsey and Michal Kempny; and guess what, both are Stanley Cup Champs. I don't think Ceci is as bad as he has made out to be. Sometimes good players get stuck in bad systems or play with other bad players. I think he Ceci could be good, especially if paired with a guy like Morrissey. |

The Rangers have four Stanley Cups since 1927. That's about one every 23 years.
The Islanders have four Stanley Cups since 1972. That's about one every 11 years.
And if you want to just talk about recent history, the Rangers have the goalie equivalent of Dan Marino in Henrik Lundqvist. One of the all-time greats at his position, who after retirement (unless he gets traded), will have zero championships and a single appearance in the finals. So yeah, all those laughing emojis you seem to enjoy using are actually laughing at you, not with you. - rob_one_six
You would have an argument except my point is the islander franchise has been a disgrace to their small number(really small number) of loyal fans and the great islander teams tha t won for cups in a row! Those teams are in the top three teams of all time! IMHO as usual islander fans like yourself are leaning on those four great teams to make your argument! You probably weren’t even born when they won four in a row. If you were you were sucking on mommas tit. |

Fine. I’ll bite.
To Ottawa:
2019 1st round pick
Austin Czarnik
James Neal
To Calgary:
Mark Stone
That’s all I’m paying for a rental, plus it would reunite the Stoner brothers. |

He’s so angry. Remember that time he stopped over at our thread and he just wanted to have a hockey discussion? |

Of Stone, Duchene, and Dzingel, I'm beginning to think Stone is the most overvalued. It's often brought up that players who are exceptional skaters tend to remain top tier players into their 30's. Does Stone end up one of the slower skaters who fizzles out once he hits 30 or so?
Personally, if I could only keep one of the aforementioned three players, I'd go with Duchene.... especially when you consider the King's ransom paid to acquire him |

I know what a kick in the teeth, I wouldn't trade Hughes or Kakko straight up for Duchene let alone add to it. Just gotta hope Colorado's ball doesn't come up. |

Stone to Winnipeg for a first and two of,
Lemieux
Appleton
Petan
Stanley
Not the greatest offer but not the worst, Jets can always add a middle round pick or two.
Send him home!! - Ross77
Micheal just got on the plane! Send petan and stanley |

Jets lines look like:
Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Ehlers-Duchene-Stone
Laine-Lowry-Tanev
Lemieux-Little-Appleton - TheUltimateJet
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa..... if you're gonna just demote Laine to the third line, I'll give you Duchene and Stone for Laine and a decent prospect/middle six roster player like Little. I'll even sweeten the pot from Ottawa's side if need be.
Dzingel Little Laine
Tkachuk Nobody Ryan
Nobody White Nobody
Nobody Nobody Nobody
Chabot Nobody
Nobody Demelo
Nobody Nobody
Nobody
Anderson
.... Not much worse than what we have now. At least we'd have one of my favorite players in Laine. Then when his contract is up, he walks for nothing and Melnyk laughs all the way to the bank.
I'm jaded.

I think Dzingel would be a really good fit in Calgary, and cost less. |

Agree.
91 hasn't seen Ceci play much.
Again, the guy is similar to Gardiner in Toronto - different abilities - but they play on teams where IF he's coached properly and played the right mins, he's effective. Certainly an asset -- he was when he helped the sens be 1 goal away from the cup finals |

Ceci sucks. - PavohnDatsvares
Right.... 38 skaters in the entire league play more than him per game, but it's probably because the coach wants to get fired
he's not as good as he was projected to be but he's better than what a lot of Sens fans will acknowledge, I really think that's true
edit: it's also how management and the coach have pumped his tires over the past 2 years, so I don't blame fans for being frustrated |

Agreed. There’s some buzz around him in Calgary as well. Much more affordable in terms of trade assets as well. |
