If Frolik goes back to Ottawa and the Flames deal Brodie at the draft to recoup picks. Stone could be resigned.

Sell high. Gotta think they have a plan with both him and Hammers deals ending next year. Also Seattle coming up.

I'm all for Prout dressing for a few, especially with us playing SJ next.
- K-man25

Especially when Evander 'everyone's a little taller when i'm not on the ice' Kane is playing ! What a doosh that guy is.

Hmm, yes, Seattle. How many players can we protect again? 12? And players with no move/no trade clauses are immune, right?

I think 7 forwards and 3 D. They have to protect NMC's.

Yeah, they're going to lose a young D for sure, just a matter of which one. Good news is they can only lose one.

Can't keep them all and Brodie's plYing some of his best hockey. If you ignore the game versus the Canes. That was a brutal display

You can also go 4 forwards and 4 D if you choose to but I'm not sure the Flames would do that.

The only players I can see our 1st being worth it for are Stone and Panarin, maybe Duchene. And that said I don't see why Columbus would trade out their leading scorer while in the thick of a playoff race. CBJ can just use Panarin as their own rental and take their chances in the off-season. I'd love to have Ferly back but he isn't worth our 1st.

And I still don't think any of those guys should be prioritized over finding a backup goaltender. Do that first.

I’m going to compile a list and keep refreshing it through out the day, as I have the day off except for a few errands.

Seattle draft is June 2021.

In that year our must protects are:

Forwards(7):
Monahan
Gaudreau
Lindholm
Tkachuk
Backlund
Jankowski
Bennett
I would still leave Neal out there as bait to protect one of our young defensemen.

Defence(3):
Giordano
Hanifin
Valimaki/Andersson/Kylington
Even if we keep and resign either Brodie or Hamonic, they’ll still be exposed at the expense of keeping Valimaki and hopefully Andersson.

Goaltender(1):
Rittich

Probably Gio would be exposed, he'll be 37-38 think they might want to keep Valimaki, Hanfan and Anderson. Not sure of Gios contract though

He’s got a NTC contract so he’s a must protect.

I’ve been looking at a bunch of scenarios in thanks partly to capfriendly.com , and I think the best available backup goaltender age and performance wise at the deadline would be Jimmy Howard. He’s had a pretty good year considering how bad Detroit has been in front of him. Plus Anthony Manthas (6’6” 220)been in the coaches dog house most of the year, so maybe a package deal there?

Just spit balling but:
From Detroit:
Howard
Mantha

From Calgary:
Smith
Dube
Gawdin
2019 1st

Thoughts? 🤔
To much, too little, pretty good, or pass?

Not bad at all... just don't see the wings moving Mantha, but you never know.... if Valimaki or Andersson (maybe Kylington) are in play... Mantha should be.

All this talk about Mark Stone too.

To Ottawa:
2019 1st
Austin Czarnik
James Neal

To Calgary:
Mark Stone

That’s all I’m paying for a rental. Reuinite the Stoner Bros. Ottawa, we can do it!

Ottawa are probably not interested in Neil's contract so you might need to sweeten that a bit. Add Kylington from Calgary and include Borowiecky coming back maybe.
The Flames would love a mulligan on the Neil deal and could re invest that money next year and fair much better.

I’d probably be willing to add Brodie if Stone signs a guaranteed extension and Ottawa takes all of Neal’s salary.

I would love to keep Stone if we got him. Just crunching some numbers to see if that would be financially viable.

Trading his brother Mike out of town would go a long ways towards helping keep Mark in town. But that would be a piss off, wouldn’t you think?!
