According to Rexy, Laine is a "generational" goal scorer.

I also suggested it to say that no one on this team is untouchable.

Connor-Draisaitl-Laine raises my sails all the way

Also, 40+ goals at 19 years old makes you a generational goal scorer, no questions asked.

When you throw the name McDavid out there, nobody indeed would be untouchable.

A friend of mine gave me an awesome suggestion last night. He said if the Jets are concerned about cap problems we should do the following trade:

To EDM: Patrik Laine, Kyle Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey

To WPG: Connor McDavid, Russell Lucic

Fixed from an outsiders perspective.

To be fair, the Jets had numerous PP opportunities which dramatically boosted Scheif's icetime. Add 2 minutes + in overtime and suddenly a 19-minute game is 23 minutes.

I've thought about that Matthews contract and its effect on the Laine contract. Actually, that number of $11.63 MM for a center may actually help us with Laine's contract. Laine may now get in the 9's based on the Matthews signing, but I personally don't think he even deserves that much.

Laine's performance this year is helping the Jets the most for his next contract. On pace for 55 points. That's a 6-7 million player at best.

I don't disagree. He continues to be an actual liability. At the end of the day he cost us the GWG with his giveaway to Burns while the Jets were on the PP. Just another frustrating night for Laine and any of his remaining fans.

Laine was good last night. That line is just broken. I just knew if I came here someone would find a way to blame Laine, and on a night when Wheeler and Scheifele were terrible, no less.

Rexy - have you lost your mind ?!? ... 'Laine was good last night' ... Laine coughed the puck up EVERY F_CKING TIME HE TOUCHED IT ! ... including the game winner on a night that Jets shoulda given PoMo the "W" for his 1500th

Laine is now a liability ... he could quite possibly be the worst forward on the roster ... if he had a different last name he'd be on the Moose for a 'conditioning stint'

This is an ISSUE that needs addressing ASAP ... BEFORE it begins to affect the team

Holy sh_t, man !

He also had 11 shot attempts. Meanwhile, Scheifele and Wheeler logged the worst Corsi numbers on the team, while Laine was over 50. They had the worst giveaways on the night.

Is there any justifiable reason whatsoever for our coach to run line 1 into the ground while letting all 3 members of line 2 struggle? Laine is showing all the signs of a frustrated player who thinks he has to do it all himself, which he does. Change it.

to send the right message. Jet's should either scratch him or send him down for a week or so. Last night he looked like he was not even trying. Standing still in the overtime power play. Coughing up the puck and not even skating. He looked really slow IMHO

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Coach Maurice frustrated me last night. Roslovic has 5 power play goals in the previous three games and essentially gets no power play time, while Laine who has colossally struggled keeps getting rewarded by staying with the top unit.

Why was Roslovic not rewarded by being put on the top unit?

Also Little and Laine have 0 chemistry but keep getting put out there together.

Frustrating.

If this is the case then my earlier trade with Duchene and Stone going to winnipeg wouldn't be so terrible if Laine comes back. I HATED the turnovers I saw in the highlights, HORRIBLE. But I didn't watch the whole game

I am surprised Nashville went for injury-prone Brian Boyle. My guess is that its too early and he gets injured once again. Bad pickup IMHO. I could probably say the same about Cody Mcleod.

Both on expiring contracts, both 34 y/o, big bodies for the playoffs. Vegas muscled up with Reeves last year for the playoffs and he factored into the series with the Jets. So Nashville is adding muscle (goonery) on the cheap for an expected spring date with the Jets.

Agree. Neither will help Rinne in stopping pucks, which was the only reason the Jets beat Nashville last year.

Yeah. I understood the bulking up part but at what cost. I don't think the defensive skills of these guys is going to help Nashville, certainly not Boyle on defense. Nashville has a very weak 4th line so pretty much anyone is an improvement there.

Was it not Mcleod that ran Enstrom into the boards in a charging penalty a few years back that put Enstrom out? I remember Sesito ( (or whatever his name is) ran Enstrom in Pittsburgh, but didnโ€™t McLeod do something similar to Enstrom? My point being, he is a goon.

Maybe the Jets should bring back Peluso, send him to Moose until you need him later on. As Mad Dog Vachon would say in his thick Franco Canadian accent, โ€œan eye for an eye, and a toot for a tootโ€! I loved Mad Dog!

Now there is a good reason to take Lemieux and Chiarot out of the lineup and put in Petan and Niku. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Do we know if Austin Watson will be back for the playoffs? They were in need of a winger with some physicality to replace him. Boyle and McLeod are depth for a good team and can join the group without damaging chemistry they have.
