Sam Reinhart from October 3rd 2017 to December 31st 2017 on “his own”

38 games played

6 5 on 5 points - Zemgus Girgensons had 7 Jordan Nolan had 5

3 5 on 5 goals - Benoit Pouliot has 4

I may be the only person on here who thought BP was decent, but goddamn, the dude created goals on his own. More than 1 of the end-to-end variety. I would take BP on this team over KO 8 days a week

Nobody really does anymore.

In my opinion of course.
I would really like if they did away with this current schedule of making sure that every team plays every team once, home and away.

That has destroyed the good old nasty rivalries.

That is what I think anyway.

Bettman has to see this right?

Edit: I mean he wants to attract new fans right?
Bring the rivalries back.

Start there.
I bet that works.

The thing that makes no sense to me:

6/8 playoff spots per conference are based on division. You might only play a team in your division 4 times, but they're basing the playoffs based on divisional play?

If you're gonna base the playoff structure on divisions, then you should be playing the division teams more, not less than when it was the best 8 per conference

the first season I remember was 70-80
losing to the islanders in the semi finals
wait til next year

80-81 laying an egg to the stars, wait til next year

park in ot game 7 wait til next year

virta leaving to play in europe, wait til next year

2 straight years getting owned by quebec, wait til next year

then blah years

then pierre, losing every series, every time wait til next year

then trade for patty, 1 playoff series win

then the hasek era
lose the semi finals to caps, wait til next year
lose the finals, wait til next year
goal counts that misses the net vs the flyers, wait til next year
f@ckin pen scores in otm wait til next year

dom bolts, team goes bankrupt

then wait a few years

then post lockout, lose semis, wait til next year
win presidents trophy, wait til next year
darcy f's up briere and drury, wait a few years later

then it's excuse after excuse for 12 more years

it's frustrating

we have seen it for well over 30 years

the younger generation hasn't had to live that way

- homiedclown

Homie... the 72-73 season was "magical" in a sense. The third season in the franchise existence. Winning a game 5 playoff in Montreal against a better club in that time. Fans packed in for game 6, and even though they loss, there was hope. 1973-74 Perreault broke his leg and the season was loss there. 1974-75 was great. With better coaching and a younger healthier Roger Crozier, they could have beaten Philadelphia besides the brilliant goaltending of Bernie Parent. After that from 1976 to 1980 it seemed the "desire" was not there as they got beaten out in early rounds. In 1980, they just simple lost to a better hockey club, the Islanders, who eventually won 4 cups in a row. I feel bad for Gil Perreault the most because he was the best player on the club from the start until his retirement and did not win a cup.

Rodriguez is a problem due to to the role he’s been put into. I said it in the last post. He’s an elite 4th liner or average 3rd liner. He should be nowhere near this top 6.
- Pegullaville

Sure, but that's not his problem, that means OTHER guys are the problem, and he's a more attractive option than guys making 5-10 times what he does. Sobotka, Pominville and Okposo are the problem, not the guy barely making the league minimum.

Productive second liner would be infinitely more valuable to this team right now.
- Lunaion

He played well with ROR last year, had more EV points with him than with Eichel, way more, 15 with just ROR, another 2 with both ROR and Eichel, and he had only 3 points with Eichel alone, with the said 2 more with both. He played 41% of the time with ROR and 17% with Jack and had 5 times more points with ROR than with Jack. The PP is a totally different story.

18 points for $650k and he's a problem?

Never said it was his problem. It’s a team problem. You also left off Elie (finally waived) and Sheary as problems as well.

Sheary is 4th in points among Sabres forwards

The first 4 words of your post were "Rodriguez is a problem". Rodrigues is not a problem due to the role, the other guys are. Blaming him for others' failings is asinine.

I'm just saying, let's get this straight. JB-acquired forwards are 2nd and 4th in points. If you wanna count Pominville, 3 out of the top-5 forwards were acquired by JB.

If you want to assign blame and say that the Mitts-led lines aren't ready for actual 2nd line duty in terms of ice time, that's fine. But one can't assign blame to them for not scoring at a 2nd-line level when the "4th line" gets the same amount of ice time, scores at half the pace, and is given a pass because they're "doing their job."

A shakeup for sure. Losing Pommer and Moulson salaries will help. Losing Okposo and Bogo would reinvent the team with the cap space available

That is a problem lol. A guy who was casted off a team that had Stanley cup aspirations is 4th on the team in points.
