What's even more funny is wondering why the status quo is so readily accepted and eaten up in this society.

God forbid GM's begin to think outside of this make believe prison cell that you and many here have them caged in.

Dare to be different I always say.

What you gave is an excuse.
Excuses are what failures lean on when the temperature begins to rise.

Not saying that you are.
Just a general assertion about excuse makers.

Mistakes are made when GM's panic

He overturned more than a third the roster in the off season

That is unheard of these days

Sheary
Skinner
Dahlin
Pilut
Sobotka
Hutton
Thompson
Hunwick

He did that in 1 off season

That make believe prison cell is a real thing when you look at the roster he inherited the cap issue he inherited and the lack of prospects in the cupboard he inherited

You call it an excuse, I call it realistic expectations of how it is going to take 3 full offseasons to get out of the mess he was hired to fix.

I never said panic.
Never panic.
Panic only creates chaos.

I said to think outside of the box.

Deals can be had in November and December when a good GM knows what he needs and the pieces that he needs to offer to make it a reality.

Predictability is not good trait.

I agree 100% with you on that.

Over 3-5 players on this Sabres roster at that.

No he's not but he would be a good third line winger

That's part of the problem, we have to many 3rd line wingers on this team.

They just won 10 games in a row

They had guys on IR that were starting to come back

They had guys in Rochester that deserved a look

They have a very very crowded locker room

If anything he should have made some minor moves to clear out some roster space.

But at that point in the season teams are still trying to figure out who they are and what they have, hell Ottawa was still in a playoff spot in November and Pittsburgh and Washington were not.

Nobody is making major moves that could have helped this roster during this present slump.

I understand what you're saying, the problem is you're not making deals like that unless you're overpaying.

Botterill is in the worst position to overpay right now. They aren't the Leafs or Lightning where they have their main 10-12 core players.

Well their third line isn't good either, they need 2 2nd liners and 2 3rd liners to make this team better

He also couldn't play the rest of the year so that defeats the purpose of helping this season and the future

Yup

They need a 2C until Casey is ready

I like Tage on the 2nd line LW or RW

There is so much this roster needs

He needs work but there isn't a player on the team or in Rochester that should be playing over him

Against Chicago

13 on ice shot attempts for 1 against

92% shot rate.

He’s fine.

I have no problem with him as far as where he is in his development

Hopefully he continues to get better

That said, he needs to improve his decision making process and be quicker moving the puck.
