Botterill just didn't try to win.
- Wetbandit1

To be more precise, it appears that he doesn't know how to.win.
Or, he is so afraid of failure that status quo suits him just fine ala Darcy Regier.

Either way, it's not a good look.

Anyone else see this on twitter?

"After the 2nd per tonight Tage Thompson whacked the stick rack leaving the bench. A fan in the stands yelled "Score a goal" Thompson responded "Shut the f*ck up". Jake McCabe proceeded to get in Thompson's face in the hall and said "If you do that again, you'll be off this team."."

Have to say I can understand why Thompson would want to say this but the fact that he did is not good. I like McCabe stepping up and saying something though.

I think the 10 game Streak skewed too many into thinking this team was good. We got a lot of lucky bounces, had good goaltending and had to come from behind in almost every game. We were average at best and all the data showed it. The fact that we are sniffing a playoff spot in February is something we all would have signed up for.

Personally I blame both RJ for recycling the "These guys are good, scary good" line and the guy who shut down the www.nhllotterysimulator.com website for jinxing our team! Yes this is a joke, kind of, I am superstitious.

In my opinion, Housley needs to go. I would love for them to go after coach Q. It seems like Housley is afraid to hurt guys feelings. Ullmark has EARNED the opportunity to be in the net. Instead he goes back to Hutton because he was brought in to be the starter. He put Hunwick in the lineup a couple games ago and he definitely played well enough to play another game. Scandella, even though better against Dallas needs a night or 2 off.

JBOTS has earned another coaching Hire even if the wheels fall off here. Thompson shows signs of becoming a good hockey player and the 1st is still up in the air. The Skinner deal was a steal. He needs to make a move before Tuesday to spark this team. We are WAY past "bring someone up from Rochester to help" phase. He also needs to Waive Elie and clear up the log jam on the blue line.

If we don't go 4-1-1 or better in the next 6 we are done!

Jbotts deserves more credit for last years tank.

He has people fooled that they weren't tanking last year.

Poker face tanking

- Boss34

Why doesn’t Botts get credit for getting Dahlin ? He didn’t try to make a big FA splash or trade the meaningless first rounder for Couterier to try and win now

Captains post game interview featured a dynamic change last night.

Instead of “that’s a good team over there” he went with “lots of good players over there.”

And he gave the unforgivable “we have to be better, *myself included*.”

You know what?

I don't mind that emotion. Yeah, you can't say that to a fan and it's a bit unprofessional, but it shows that he cares.

You said we have no C prospects. That's a clear disdain that you're further illustrated here.
- Lunaion

we have center prospects

casey, asplund, davidsson, pekar

botts drafted 1 winger in the 2 drafts

the rest was focused on building the d, 1 stud goalie and centers

With where we are slated to draft right now we should be able to draft a couple of wingers. Pekar or Davidsson could shift to the wing as well.

This is one very sad looking team coached by a wimp. What were they thinking when they hired Housley? And when the he!! do they actually get an NHL quality goaltender and some defensemen who know how to play? And by the way.... Where is this superman named Dahlin? He is as invisible as any I have seen...

The Dahlin with 8 points in his last 9 games ? He wasn’t very noticeable last night but he’s been our most consistent point producer the last month as an 18 year old defenseman.

Carolina just passed us. Don’t look now but Philly has won 6 in a row. Also the Western conference teams are jockeying for that last playoff spot.

Botts should be trying like heck to move Scandella, Beaulieu, Sobotka, Pominville, Elie, Wilson, Okposo (Pipe dream). Get rid of the useless players on this team and possibly draft twice in the top 12 picks at this point.

Allegedly both he and Eichel are capable of controlling a game and singlehandedly winning games? Ain't really seen it.... Scoring points yes.... Controlling games? Hardly.... Bigger problem is coaching, defense and goaltending..... This team is a frigging mess...

Quasi 10 game win streak aside, somewhere along the way the wheels have completely fallen off this thing.

Turnover after turnover after turnover. Even Bogo had 2 last night that both ended up in the net.

I think the mantra lately (and rightfully so) is “we gotta find a way to do score more goals”. Because of that, the team D concept has been thrown out the window. One positive - I’m loving Mitt’s game. Mitt’s = The Tenacious D.

Its too late now to make a run this year. They were never good enough anyway. Make the tough moves in the offseason (get rid of Scandella, try to Molson Okposo, make Pommer go away, etc), use some picks or prospects to poach some rosters and sign some quality free agents that can score.

But the turnovers. My GOD !!

14 of your 25 wins have been by a single goal.

9 have been in OT or the shootout, which is basically a coin flip.

That 10 game win streak was a smoke screen

He’s only 18. At the pace he’s on right now Dahlin is going to produce what Hedman did in his first two years in the league combined at the ages of 19 and 20. Eichel, sure, that’s a game we needed to win and although he got a goal I would have liked to see more from that line.

Even if we go 5-5 in that stretch instead of 10-0 we are currently selecting 6th in the draft this year. People want to add and make a playoff run but in all honesty that 10 game winning streak was the difference of being mediocre and average.
