I like it! Definitely isnt a bad trade and could turn out to be a very good trade. I think buying low on players is always the best way to win a trade. Still wish we got Domi over Brassard Took enough heat on that last year on here haha
To the trade I think Bjugstad is better then brassard at both ends. Still think Bjugstad ends up at 3C in time. Mccann has potential to be a decent 3C as well. I liked Sheahan but I think Mccann is marginally better now and he is 5 years younger. - pens4life-66
As per Vics post...thats where he's starting. |

As much as it sucks to see, Pittsburgh got the better deal out of this. They lose two UFAs that really won't have much of an impact gone, a few picks they never use anyway and get two younger players with higher ceilings.
Unless Florida flips Brassard and/or Sheahan, no clue what they were thinking. |

I think they got the better current end of this deal...and current or near future is about all I care about right now with the Pens' Sid and Geno hitting the back 9 of their careers.
As for down the road, this has the potential to be great for the Panthers depending on how they deal with Brass, Sheahan and the picks they obtained. |

Any chance of them in the lineup tonight? They both already played on an American team, so no work Visa issues.... |

Never heard of Mcann until today. How would he compare to a Dominic Moore type player? Good 4C player, never put up many pts, but pretty clutch in the playoffs. |

McCann is an offensive player. He's not a grinder and to my knowledge his defensive game is nonexistent. Its best to think of McCann as a Sprong replacement who plays C rather than a potential 4th line grinder. |

I think this was just kind of a timing thing with Domi. I don’t think what he did the first half/third of the season is the new normal for him and in the offseason many figured a healthy Brassard could likely bounce back |

So once you hit 22/23 you are what you are?
Ask Couturier about that. - Glak18
Couturier is kind of an odd example because he rocketed up when given 1C usage and linemates but I get what you’re saying and agree with it. I think some people can look at the numbers and sometimes forget to keep adding additional perspective |

From Florida’s perspective it is 100% about recovering assets while clearing cap space. You can basically guaranty that Brass gets flipped, Sheahan maybe / maybe not. They waived McGinn yesterday as well. There are rumors of a blockbuster with CBJ |

And to add to this, his fancy stats dont indicate hes any good at being a grinder even if he has been deployed like one. |

CBJ is the team that will be highest on Brassard too. They might feel better about selling high on Panarin if they can buy low on OG Brassard in the trade. Make them think they are staying in the playoff picture this season even if they are definitely a worse team without Panarin. |

If you’re a FL fan I think you have to like the deal. A 2nd, two 4ths. Sportsnet just did an article on the value of a 1st round pick in trades. For centers it’s a 3C, gotta figure Brass brings in something around that. Florida maybe hangs on to Sheahan. The big thing for FL is obviously the cap space they just opened up for this summer. They also put my buddy McGinn on waivers to try to clear more immediate space. I love that Tallon is making moves, I just wish he hadn’t given Reimer all that term and money years ago - WSCTeton17
Tallon is a god awful GM. That dude ruined that team. |

I don't get how this is good for Florida, unless they intend to move Brassard and/or Sheahan at the deadline. |

He’s 7th for Panther forwards in points per game this year. Last year he was 8th (as Bjugstad passed him). As Vic said his scoring is basically all at ES as well which is a huge positive. He would’ve been 9th on Pitt last season with a lower QoT and this years production is on par with Pearson, Brass, ZAR. I think it’s safe to assume he projects as a fringe 3rd liner right now in Pitt with 87,71,81,59,72,17,12,15 and now 27 ahead of him. If someone goes down, I think he’s a good candidate to move up the chain. I also think there’s potential for him to pass Simon, Rust, Pearson, and Bjugstad on the depth chart |

So Mcann has 18 its in 46 games
Brassard 15 pts in 40 games.....Lord thats horrible for a guy getting paid $5mil this year and playing with Kessel and better players. |

They probably intend to for some more picks. Taking a run at bob, panarin, etc looks to be in the cards. |

Tallon is a god awful GM. That dude ruined that team. - j.boyd919
He wasn’t the only GM to give presents to Vegas. Let’s not forget he was the one who built Chicago before handing it off to Bowman. All GMs make mistakes.
Petrovic trade was a win. Hoffman trade was an absolutely huge win. Vatrano trade has definitely been panning out. He made out pretty well when he dumped off Bolland. I would call that Kulikov trade a win. Acquiring Yandles rights was a win. He didn’t give up a ton to ditch Savard’s cap space. I would call the Gudbranson trade a win. The Pirri trade was a loss but everyone gives up on that guy. Let’s not forget that Tallon kinda stole Smith from Boston. He botched the Hyman trade, but nobody forsaw that. I think he did well in the Luongo trade. The Reimer signing was bad but it didn’t look bad at the time. Bringing back Dadonov was a huge success. He got something for nothing with Niemi. Getting rid of Gallant was obviously really dumb but he’s also the one who brought him in. He’s always had a strong history of drafting quality players.
I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s an awful GM because of a few bad moves. When healthy this team has been good under HCBB so whatever. He botched the expansion draft. Does that one thing take away from all of these other quality moves? I sure as hell don’t think it does |

Its worth noting that we're still in contention to win the Met with Schultz being out and our 3C being a no show for pretty much the entire season. This trade hopefully gave us a functional 3C and Schultz will be back soon. I think we're in an ok place. |
