The follow up is in the works and it's a "Dude's Guide to Surviving Kids".

Maybe the divorce one can be the 3rd edition.

@BHTVeric: Cam Ward will start in goal tonight. Brendan Perlini and Slater Koekkoek will be scratched. #Blackhawks

Like that trade for Pittsburgh, they get two centers, both young, upside may be limited, but both former first round picks, they hate Brassard here and they gave up a 2 and a couple 4s, big deal. Shehen is nothing much. Really don't want this team winning a fourth Cup, but they surely are in the race. Not sure what Florida is thinking.
- kwolf68

Tallon sucks as a GM. Its about time for Hawk fans to realize there never would have been Cups 2 and 3 if he was here.

They may be former 1st round picks but both Bjustad and McCann have not lived up to their draft status. McCann is basically Perlini except he will play physical. Bjustad has seen his career derailed by injuries including a wonky back.

What a terrible trade for Florida. Tallon sucks. There. I said it.
- Elbows15

The key to this trade:

PierreVLeBrun

As we talked about yesterday, Florida hopes to take a run at Panarin and Bobrovsky so after today’s trade they have more flexibility to do it. And while they could wait until July 1 to go after them, they could also inquire before Feb 25 if something makes sense... so stay tuned

--

Oh and if they flip Brassard at the deadline for an asset ,picks or prospects... they could be solid as well. I think Uncle Dale is playing the long game here.

I've liked Stan's last couple of moves (Strome, Caggiula), but if he's on the way out they should not let him dismantle more of the team for less value than a competent GM would get. Keith is on a fine deal for his play. He's still easily the best defender on the team. We lose him and we lose any hope of making the playoffs in the next two years.
- ObeseOprah

Even with Keith here:

We aren't making playoffs without a couple prospects stepping up ahead of schedule and some toughness with physical play on at least one of the top lines. It is expecting a lot for prospects to come in and solve each of those needs. Goaltending is a bit unsettled but could be average with Dellia and Crawford. Or someone replacing Crawford.

Maybe. Colliton or someone in management does not like Keith's attitude rubbing off on young players. And or Bowman wants to get higher value now than he might receive from a disenchantment Keith next season I am in the camp of not trading Keith until one or two prospects are ready to take his job.

To pick a nit. Would it just be easier to post your updates in the comment section? OR are you just trying to help pay for the repairs to your basement you sly bastard?

Just thought it would be good to keep it in one consistent thread on the blog.

ha. No.

I was just trying something new out.

I can post my updates in the thread as well for all to comment on. Might work better!

Tallon may suck now, but he made some incredible moves that basically (along w/ previous GM to him) landed an insane core group of gifted players. That core group was the foundation for 3 Cups. Not only that but he built a system of incredible depth. Yea something may be in the water in Florida because he has done some dumb poop there, but his name should be on 2013 and 2015 trophies as much as Bowman in my view.

Being at the game and celebrating when Brent Seabrook blasted a wrist shot past Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard’s glove 3:35 into overtime to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 victory over the Red Wings in Game 7 of their second-round 2013 playoff series.

As you all probably recall, the Blackhawks, who had the best record in the NHL regular season, rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to reach the Western Conference finals against the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings ...and then eventually go on to beat Boston in the SCF to win the Cup!

Just remember Tallon is essentially rebuilding after their last upper management shake up where he was relegated to an advisory role. Lots of damage was done during that time.

I concur he has a long view and is moving things to create cap space for future moves.

I don't know what to think about this trade, it's like going to the junk yard and throwing used parts into the yard and dismantling some parts and throwing in the back of the truck.

Tallon added two centers whom he.expects will be more serviceable. Those two centers may not be long in Florida, but it was time to move on from McCann and Bjugstad. It cost Tallon two #4's

Also I agree with your assessment on Tallon.

Tallon played the long game by giving a broken down Bolland a 5 year contract. He has no clue what he is doing. He already has over 8M tied up in goalies next season. Brassard isn't going to get him much and even with this trade, getting Panarin and Bob in under the cap is going to be tough. As we have seen, Tallon ain't so good with numbers

Overtime game against Calgary in 2009 that Havlat buried. Incredible moment.

That was before most of the seats were taken over for corporate events and drunk tourists and it was still moderately affordable.

Another hazy one was early 90s in the old building following around my uncle's white Chelios jersey in a haze of cigarette smoke and the smell of stale beer. Miss home whites. Those are just sharp sweaters.

That was the game where Hjarmalsson was robbed of a goal when Saad was getting mugged. I knew it was no goal right away as I was watching the scrum. If the hawks lost that game it would have been ugly.

Oh for future moves. Now I have an idea why he made the trade. But my point also holds truth in a post above.

Most of that depth you speak of came when Smith and unbelievably, Pulford were GM.
The depth for the 13 and 15 teams came from Bowman moves. After Tallon (frank)ed up the QO that put the Hawks in cap hell in the 1st place.

1992 Red Wings vs Blackhawks, Game 4, Chicago Stadium, 1st row level 3, great great seats right over the ice, Sutter scoring series/game winning goal with a 1:30 left in the game, just amazing

My first game was Christmas day 1966 against the Rangers. (only the original 6 at that time) Hull's (Bobby and Dennis), Mikita, Phil Esposito, Pilote, Mohns, Angotti, Maki, Nesterenko, Kenny Hodge, Jarett, Glenn Hall, Dennis DeJordy, with Billy Reay behind the bench. We sat in the nosebleed section with my dad, uncle and brother and you could feel the building shake. Hawks and DeJordy were shutout by the Rangers and Giacoman 1-0. Bernie Geoffrion scored the lone goal.

A forgotten fact - At that time I believe that teams only could dress 16 skaters and 2 goalies. They sometimes dressed only 15 skaters and 2 goalies.

- -Doh-

I remenmer that. Usually 11 forward and 5 defensemen. Only 3 lines. Hull was double shifted a lot with the other 2 forwards. Only 2 pair of defensemen with the 5th guy rotating in on occasion.

he was booted upstairs in the first place because he was throwing money around on bad contracts.

I will say it again. Tallon sucks as a GM.
