I agree that Saad is a great piece to have going forward, and I really like the effort that he's been showing since JC became coach. But, you also need to give in order to get and I don't see any of these young defensemen in our system turning into the kind of horse you need to go 3 or 4 rounds deep into the playoffs and play like Brent Seabrook or Duncan Keith did in their prime, at least not in the 2 to 3 year window that we're looking at for Kane and Toews. If Saad, a high level prospect and a 3rd gets you a Giordano caliber defenseman , you do it.

They will, book it. Just like the Bears for so many years..winning BS nothing games and they drop from 2 or 3 to 7 or 8. But what can you do? Ask them to lay down? No cant do that. Ward was great tonight.

Totally agree. Love watching them win but realize that it hurts them in the long run. There's a lot of good in the future especially if Delia can progress into a solid #1, but the D is so flippin bad that they will continue to give up 40 shots a game.

I still prefer to move out any of the guys we all want moved.....if at all possible to build with a high draft choice, young speedy prospects, and get as much CAP space as possible.

Buffalo had a lot of shots, but Ward didn't steal the game. Two thirds of his saves were in the crest of his chest or shot straight into his glove. He played well, but it isn't like the Hawks were overwhelmed for the whole game. They played a fine road game and took advantage of their chances when they got them.
