Again an actual insider says one thing but a troll from HB says another thing . Who to believe ? - VANTEL

I love when Armchair GMs want to go out and buy 2 or 3 overpriced free agents and sit and whine about cap space . Let's go sign Stone and Eriksson for 6 years 20 mil and then say they hate a 3 mil contract for 4 years. - VANTEL

Who likes or wants Eriksson. I never heard one person say what a smart signing so I have no idea of what you mean. It was the dumbest signing in Canucks history.
Also ,you have as much of a chance of signing Santa and the Easter Bunny as you do to sign those two. |

Crazy how much of a step back Karlsson, Marschessault have taken back this season.
.97 and .95 ppg to .67 and .65
Tuch, Statsny and Patches are ahead of them this year.
Which is probably a good thing for them. Two lines capable of scoring.
Better forward depth than teams like Cgy and SJ. |

Again I will say each to their own but I hardly see how it is jumping the gun. Benning has been here for 5 years and we have been bottom feeders for 5 of 6 years. That to me seems like slow boat to China (Sorry if racist comment) and not jumping the gun. How long are you hoping to stay at the bottom for? - VANTEL
Few points, one, building takes time. Two, their thought process changed from we own it to the Sedins to ice a competitive team for the first three years to its time to focus on a rebuild the last couple. Three, the team doesn't have many good young NHL players yet, I expect them to continue building via the draft until they have better players. There's no timetable on that.
When they have more than three top six forwards, at least three top four defenders and they make the playoffs, then in my opinion you can start trading draft picks. Not before. |

Not that surprising, it was pretty obvious they were massively overachieving last year.
When a guy goes from 6 goals one year to over 40 the next it's not shocking to see him take a step back imo |

I think after this year they should really be trying to make the playoffs. I agree we're still a ways away from being ready to trade away draft picks, but I think signing a top 6 forward or a top 4 Dman in free agency this summer would be a good step |

All three are good teams but I'd say Calgary is the most talented and deepest. |

That would make them a playoff team in my mind, if Markstrom can build on his last few months and continue his good play of course. |

Both Karlsson and Marschessault did see a boost in TOI and added PP time going to Vegas. Still steps forward from before they got to Vegas. |

Cgy has the best top 4 D but on forwards
They have a big 4 that are cruising. Tkachuk 4th at 57 points to Backlund 5th at 29 points. Then Jankowski and Bennett at 20 and 19.
VGK clearly don't have the crazy scoring top 4 like CGY does or SJ. Eakin 6th has 26 points and that's with Stastsny only played 22 games.
Damn Ryan Reaves has more points than James Neal.
Gotta give the nod to MAF over Rittich for experience as well. I think it would be a good series. |

I think he’s going to get the “Marian Hossa itch” and go on LTIR — he’s had enough injuries in his career to warrant that. - NewYorkNuck
I don’t think he gives two poops about cap recapture. Salary is relatively low, you know he could have a job in the media or with the organization. |

I don't think he does either. However, he seems like a classy guy, still has a love for Vancouver, and if he goes on LTIR he gets his salary plus he can work: Chris Pronger and the league set the standard for that, so it'd be tough for them to enforce in court. |

Luongo? I think he does care about it. He's a standup guy and I don't think he'd want Vancouver to suffer a $4.26 million dollar penalty next year or $8.5 million the year after. He wouldn't do that. 100% he'll go on LTIR. |

I just don't see Luongo being that way, he's a nice guy. I think Kovalchuk is the only player who's had salary recaptured? Everyone else goes on LTIR. |

It was like $700k. Not really an issue.
I could just see him being tired of the off season training and saying (frank) it, i’m Getting fat and hanging by the pool all summer. |

I think he'd just say I can't play anymore from chronic groin injury. I just don't see him hanging that on Aquilini and the Canucks. |

Not sure if you're mocking or agreeing with me..
He's had so many injuries it'd be easy to justify the LTIR |

Groin, knees, hips.
Basically his whole lower body is ready to pop at any given second. |
