Thanks for the read, interesting how Dubas said it was serendipitous, interesting choice of words? He knows he got one helluva player for almost a 2nd round draft pick. Other than Parayko what defenseman is on the market that's going to help you on a playoff run and don't tell me Dougie? Blake hurt the Kings today.
- BetweenTheDots

I disagree. I think Blake realizes the Kings won't be a contender until after Muzzin's contract runs out (after next season) and that if he didn't get something for Muzzin soon he would be left with a 30 year old Muzzin entering UFA status - so either he would have to extend him for at or near what the market pays or get nothing. By trading Muzzin now, he basically decided he did not want to tie up cap space for 4-5-6 years at a considerable cap hit. That's a similar situation Bowman was faced with with Seasbrook except there was a longer loyalty tender with Seabrook. Bowman chose to re-sign rather than cut bait and we Hawks fans haven't stopped complaining ever since.

Tie up cap space? Apparently im missing something if they are rebuilding what difference does it make if he holds out for the best deal? I guess Blake determined what Muzzin was worth and felt the deal was fair, from now till the trade deadline will all playoff dmen stay healthy? I guess Blake figured they all will. I wonder if he even shopped him around the league? You assume yes but i don't know? I think he was scared he wouldn't get another offer like that, and let fear make his decision for him.

I've seen Mitchell and Boqvist play in the WJC a few weeks ago and a couple other games that we're on TV. I haven't seen Beaudin play in a real game - just Hawks camps and prospect tourney. From that limited viewing - I'm not seeing much from Mitchell to match what others are saying about him. From what I've seen Boqvist and Beaudin look much better than Mitchell, especially considering Mitchell is a year older than B&B.
- EbonyRaptor

Eb, Mitchell is playing against men in the NCAA while Gus, I mean Boqvist, and Beadin are playing against boys in jrs. He was a key piece of a ntional champion as a true freshmen, no small feat. Haven't seen enough of him to be definitive other than to say he's a very good prospect. ...... Same for Beaudin who IMO might be the most complete of the 3 to date with the Swede having a crazy offensive ceiling as a 4th forward.

My apologies if this has been mentioned (or if I am wrong, I am not on here religiously but enough) but I find it ironic that as soon as the second coming of MexicoHawk was outed the posts immediately stopped. Hmmmmm....

Yes, he thought that was the best deal he was gonna get and he got a good one although time will tell. I get you think he jumped the gun but we'll soon see what Dmen bring back thru the deadline.

I heard Duncan Keith's name linked with the Canucks, who fit that category.

- walleyeb1

Now THAT makes perfect sense to me, given Keith's family and historical ties to that area. If he has asked to go and wants to be in VAN, wish him nothing but the best.

The only way this makes sense to me is if they make another deal and eat a bad contract.

Great points, for sure. Just to throw this out there too, but could this be the same case for Seabrook? Could he be working his way through some sort of injury? I'm fuzzy on the timeline, but wasn't it a few years ago, maybe during the playoffs, where the team had to carry him to the plane, due to his pain? Didn't his drop in performance coincide with this?
- CamRusselsJock

Yep - Blues series. He had to be helped onto the plane.

Mex made sense IMO, had some solid insight. The problem was he connected himself as an insider which many found offensive. Hell it's the internets you can be what you want but that doesn't mean you don't know what you are talking about. ........ I miss Mex.

Assume you are comparing him to the guy who wanted Boqvist all along but never uttered his name until he was drafted?

LA eat a bad contract with a TT thrown in to do so? ......... Your thoughts on the Hawks doing that? I brought that up, the Hawks eating a bad one, awhile back and only saw one other poster suggest the same since.

I honestly forgot his/her name but he was posting quite a bit all weekend.

I agree I miss Mex too he always seemed spot on with his analysis. Who cares if he was a fraud or not.

Went by WSCTeton17. Posted a lot on Justin's recent "Fun with Trade Proposals" blog, beginning on page 6. The MexicoHawk references were made by posters on page 22-23.

Right on, Webby. Don't know about you but I still have a 30in waste, can still run a sub 4.6 40 and have full head of hair for internets purposes. Doesn't mean I do, or don't, know what I'm talking about.

No doubt in my mind Mex played as his x's and o's were as good as anyone who's posted here and his evaluations would support that too. Same for how he saw a game. Dude has been coached up, zero doubt. ............This Hawks blog lost one of its best resources when Mex had enough of the real frauds that still post here.

Meaning that if LA were to re-sign Muzzin after the 2019/20 season, it would tie up cap space for some number of years and it would be during those seasons ('21/'22/'23/'24/etc.) that cap space will be needed to pay for the guys they got in the trade and the other prospects that will be part of the rebuild.

What was wrong with this guy? He had a helluva grasp of the whole league. Did he get too many Hawk fans pissed when he debunked the Saad for Mathews type proposals?

This one I can see a fit for both parties. Duncan has won everything there is to win in hockey including Olympic gold.

This move would allow Duncan to be close to his son.

Nothing wrong with him IMO. He just had a lot to say that day for some reason and raised some good points about trades, player values, etc. Hasn't been back since for whatever reason.

Except I seem to remember him drooling over Marko Dano. Talking about how he was Hossa 2.0 etc. etc.

Yeah that did not pan out. Wiz called him out repeatedly on stuff. He was good at writing long blog posts that were articulate. Not sure if he knew his stuff or he didn't. He just made his opinions sound better than everyone else. The other issue was the length he went to claim he was an ex NHL player. Tad creepy.
