you don't think after that trade Simmer won't bring back a first plus? First is guaranteed, not sure what else a team will add. - ClaudeFather
I don't believe Simmonds gets you a first because Muzzin did. I could be wrong and someone could be aggressive for him but I feel he falls into a conditional type pick where it could move up based on success or re signing. |

Yes, but I do think they could get a top 6 to 9 player that has shown "glimpse's"...like a Sonny Milano or Chad Greenway type possibly.
Fiala/Tolvanen may be too far down the path of proven - juiced
Again, I don't think they'd be able to get either. Those were just the names people threw out in the last blog. Nashville would have to be pretty desperate to do that. |

Can always add one of our 3rds or future pick with Simmonds to get a better return/prospect |

Agreed. People were asking if they could get Fiala (good, young, top-6/9 forward) or Tolvanen (Grade A defensive prospect) for him. If they could get either, I'd call it a steal. - jmatchett383
Yeah, I don't think Nashville moves either, but if they did, it would likely be Tolvanen. Giving up Fiala just creates another hole in their forward group which is the last thing a contender wants to do at this point in the season. This is why I doubt they get a good, young NHL player in a Simmonds deal. It's going to be contenders that have the most interest and they are going to want to move picks/prospects for any deadline rentals.

Agreed. I'd prefer prospects over picks so that the turnaround time is quicker. |

GMs and coaches love toughness, especially the old school hockey guys. They will look at Simmer and gladly give a first up, especially if they feel another contender is looking. |

Gotta love message board MD's who question a hockey player's toughness.
The lineup looked much better last night with the cokehead in the stands. But Ghost's injury in warm ups showed the danger of only carrying 6 healthy dmen on the roster, which apparently they will do tonight in NY, and maybe in Boston on Thursday. - Feanor
I really don't get it, just waive McKenna and bring up Myers. Or, if you want to go game by game, since he's not starting tonight, send Hart down for tonight's game and bring up Myers. McKenna can back up Stolie tonight and you can just recall Hart and send down Myers tomorrow. If you still need Myers for Thursday, then again, when you recall Hart, waive McKenna.
It's not like if you need another goalie, you couldn't easily pick up the equivalent of McKenna at any time.

Maybe they do.
I don't see a 1st rounder straight up. Maybe conditionally based of Simmonds being re signed or success in playoffs but not straight up.

Just means we can 100% get a first rounder and possibly a B prospect for Simmonds. Those were two of Toronto's top 5 prospects, clearly aware he has another year on his contract. - ClaudeFather
Not really. Defenseman are more valuable then forwards. And players with term are move valuable also. You might get a first, or a good prospect and later pick. |

I like your first idea to get Myers a game, but I don’t want to waive McKenna. They are just too banged up in goal...big risk. Myers will get some games eventually.

I wouldn't waive Hart like a yo-yo. He's earned his NHL roster spot and pay. |

People forget that part when they just say to waive a guy. Some of these guys get different pays for the AHL and NHL.
Just waive McKenna, let him sit behind Lyon in Lehigh, bring up Myers |

It's one day, and he wouldn't have to actually report. The financial effect would be pretty minimal as well. But if not, just waive McKenna. FFS, it's not like they'd be waiving Bernie Parent. If he gets claimed and at some point soon you needed another goalie, you can always acquire a similar guy without giving up very much, if anything at all.

Ghost injury- Not necessarily stirring the pot, but they are calling it a bruise? If Ghost is still on top PP and getting his regular minutes, does a bruise keep him out? Hasn't missed a game in the last 88. Just asking.
If he got hit with a puck at the morning skate and it was in an unprotected spot, a deep bruise is very painful.
I also don't know Ghost's mental make-up or work ethic. I have seen him regularly avoid contact and not win puck battles due to lack of aggressiveness.
I'm not saying he isn't in pain. I am saying that his motivation is different with reduced minutes.
Thoughts? - cdearth23
I think its a fair question. Simmonds and Provorov set the bar last season when they decided to play as long as their limbs were attached.
Anyone else that isn't up to that standard set by the leaders on this team should be seen as feeble and weak-minded.
I'd even attach a new letter to their jersey. Give them the 'G' for girly-man.

I'm waiting till I know Stolie is healthy and another goalie is almost ready to come back before I let McKenna go. He is absolutely replaceable, but teams have to waive a goalie before you claim one, and if one isn't waived then you might end up having to overpay for a rental (Mzarek). Better to be safe then sorry at this point. |

No, Ian Laperriere set the bar when he blocked a shot with his face twice in one season, and returned for the 3rd period the first time he did it.
Anyone else who would miss more than 1 period for anything less than a broken face should be publicly shamed. |
