So then you’d agree having multiple firsts increases the odds of landing said impact players?
- sbroads24

Yes, it does

What I’m saying is that u can also use SOME (not ALL) of those picks to trade for guys we KNOW are impact players

Is this really that difficult?
Seems pretty obvious dude

And to play your game...
those are all different regimes & not Botts
Why exactly can’t he make a good trade using a 1st?

- jdfitz77

Muzzin was the first trade involving one. Takes two teams to tango. When I see someone’s name in the rumour mill worth us moving a first rounder for that is less than 25 years of age im all for it. If the Flyers want to move Konecny, Provorov, or Patrick come on down.

Carlson and Kuznetsov were late round firsts that they kept and drafted.

Imagine them trading those picks away. They don’t have a cup most likely

- sbroads24

They're definitely the "patience" poster children. With the owner we have I'm not sure that kind of patience will be afforded to a front office.

Of course you can, and unless it’s for a very young player I wouldn’t

So nothing is guaranteed. Glad we got that sorted. You also conveniently omitted Kessel.

And Carter & Richards
And Hossa
And I’m sure there were more

Looking at a bunch of drafts earlier today

After pick say 20
The better players tend to be d men

- homiedclown

good point . 30 teams have maybe 3 players that make it in all. Not good after 20

Hunwick definitely looks faster. He got a step back. I think he makes Beaulieu/Scandalous expendable

Mittelstadt and Dahlin have looked great tonight. Thompson has been all over the place as well with a nice goal.

If Columbus has to trade bob and panarin this May be the team we have to squeak by to get in the playoffs
- Sabre_Tooth

Thinking the same thing.

Need these 2 points in regulation.

Play them at home on march 31st. 4th last game of the season could be big.

League is getting younger and younger. That said player would also still most likely have RFA eligibility. Unless the player is 26-27 and has speed to burn I want nothing to do with giving a player like that a 7 year deal and regretting the last 3 years. Or take the 18 year old, wait two years and get a 20 year old making 975K a year.

On this day in 1997...
Rob Ray scores his 7th goal of the season

Same number or more as:
Tage
E Rod
Berglund
Sobotka
Sheary
Mitts

Holy crap... that’s brutal
Our “depth” suuuuuuuuuuuucks

and he didn't score anymore the rest of the season

So then which do u choose...

a draft pick that might not develop till he’s 23... if at all
*i use 23 bc we are talking about mid-late round picks who tend not to jump in & be impact players for a while (yes, i know there’s exceptions)

OR

A 26year old we KNOW is good

Whether he did or didn’t...
it just goes to show how badly our “depth” scorers have let us down so far
