That's what they've been doing. Every line without Eichel is getting 3C time on average
- jcragcrumple

I say that in context of having a legit 2C as well
I think u missed my point

Yes, maybe one of them ends up like Girgs. And I’ll take that if one of the three end up a Barzal or Larkin or Connor or Pastrnak
- sbroads24

But will they?
Using your examples...
Pitt went 0 for 6 with Botts as AsstGM trying to draft a player of that magnitude in the 1st

Different mix of scouts, different team, he’s also making the decisions where as in Pittsburgh final say was Shero/Rutherford.

Dude, for the love of god please read this -

NO ONE IS SAYING HE WONT MAKE MISTAKES

THE ENTIRE POINT IS TO KEEP THE PICKS TO GIVE US BETTER ODDS ON LANDING AN IMPACT PLAYER

NONE OF US THINK EVERY PICK WILL PAN OUT. None

- sbroads24

Well then let’s just trade everyone who isn’t Jack or Dahlin for picks then...

We can waste years of them waiting to see if the picks actually turn into something

How would anyone know?

All I know is contending teams have guys on ELC’s that play huge roles and we are void of players like that

Do you agree that most impact players are drafted in round one?

We have four 1sts in the next 2yrs
I didn’t say trade them all

U wanna increase our chances of picking a guy who MIGHT turn out to be good
But it’s still a CHANCE

No one should have an issue trading a 1st for a player we already KNOW is good,
that can help us for years to come

Going back to the Pens, Guentzel was a 3rd round pick, and the Caps last year had 3 players 30 or over leading them in the playoffs. Kuznetsov and Carlson at 25 and 28 rounded out the top 5. None of the big Caps were on an ELC. There are many ways to skin a cat. Yeah, a big contributing big on an ELC really, really helps, it's not the only way to do it.

Duchene is in the process of gift wrapping Hughes to the Avs, Schenn and ROR can’t seem to get the Blues to the playoffs. Brassard has done nothing for Pittsburgh. McDonagh and JT Miller has made Tampa a better team but they paid a huge price. Nash is retired and didn’t help the Bruins enough to be worth the price. Hamonic and McDonagh/Miller have been the only additions acquired with a 1st rounder in the last few years that might actually pay off 2 years from now for the team that traded their first.

On this day in 1997...
Rob Ray scores his 7th goal of the season

Same number or more as:
Tage
E Rod
Berglund
Sobotka
Sheary
Mitts

Holy crap... that’s brutal

So then you’d agree having multiple firsts increases the odds of landing said impact players?

Carlson and Kuznetsov were late round firsts that they kept and drafted.

Imagine them trading those picks away. They don’t have a cup most likely

And to play your game...
those are all different regimes & not Botts
Why exactly can’t he make a good trade using a 1st?

So nothing is guaranteed. Glad we got that sorted. You also conveniently omitted Kessel.
