Nah, your comparing 3 cap hits to 1.

We’d be paying 2 additional roster spots on top of Oreilly.

Ain’t the same

Yes, a million dollars less. Minus another 3.5 when Sobo comes off.

Again, we saved a bunch of money, not really sure what you're arguing here.

- RhinoFan

My bad thought you meant the SAbres would only be on the hook for $1MM

Close enough that dumping someone like Beaulieu for a low round pick would cover it
Bad argument

But he’s not even arguing we shouldn’t have made the trade
He’s saying that Botts’ plan for a 2C this season failed
That’s very inarguable

Correct, it failed.
But honestly, who thought Mitts would be this "Not ready"
Who predicted Bergy to up and quit?

now we get to see How Botts handles it.

Gotcha. Understood.

Just saying, after next season Sobotka's 3.5 falls off, Berglund buried is another 1.0 off, Tage is taking a roster spot on an ELC, and Ryan is signed for multiple ensuing seasons while those savings are in effect.

I think people just underestimate how much flexibility that trade gave us.

I see Sobodka being moved this offseason again for nothing more than a let pick with some salary held.

I never said to fire the guy... Did I? Im saying he (frank)ed up that move.... and that's a fact because we are all talking about the need for a 2nd line center. a center we had.

are you really trying to defend that he screwed up this move????

- gordong

Your gm had to move o riely thats what eichal told him to do. Like it or not theres truth in that.

Apparently it's rocket science... Are some people just that afraid to admit that the GM screwed up? it happens, okay, he (frank)ed up, go out and fix it....

the biggest problem I have is we all see we need a lot of pieces still, and yet we sit here doing nothing to fix it. You can't tell me that giving the kids in Rochester was at least something to try? maybe you get a break and one of the kids catches fire with Jack or Mitts? yet we continue to watch the same poop hand just shuffled 42 thousand times. make a trade, make 10 trades, bring some kids up from Rochester, DO SOMETHING to make this team better. and for the love of god FIX THE (frank)ING PP!

Well...

I said right away that expecting Berglund,
who was SLOW and had been playing mostly WING to be a 2C was a terrible idea
*although i did think he might be able to be an ok 3C
Obviously, that plan (him at 2C) worked out so horribly that he was bumped down to line4 in a matter of weeks
Did i expect him to be that bad?
Of course not
But it’s no surprise he didn’t work as a 2C either

And i also warned that Mitts might not be the stud everyone was predicting him to be right away
Kid was playing High School hockey 2yrs ago
It’s not a shock that he didn’t pull a “Barzal” right away

Botts took 2 very risky bets on 2C this year,
and those risks worked out horribly
He does deserve criticism for this

Yeah, I honestly don’t care because Casey Mittelstadt is the future 2C.

I’d rather have seen him get a legitimate 3C in the offseason

Like Berglund?
Or Sobotka?

Let’s keep wasting years of Jack, & now Dahlin as well, by bringing in more guys like that...
no freaking thank you!

Trading parts for Skinner is an anomaly
Need to give to get
Trading a pick(s) to help build this team is a viable option

Its just an opinion. But thats an impression more than a few people have. I have a friend that was involved in college hockey as a coach and didn t say some flatering things about eichal beyond his skill. That much i do know. Eventually you ll see that. But right now i guess uou ll just say im trolling instead of me saying what i think to be true.

Eichel seems to have matured quite a bit

He’s nowhere near the punk Pat Kane was/is
And he’s won quite a bit

So as long as Jack has outgrown his 18/19 year old self- i think we are ok

Also...
Jack didn’t tell them to trade O’Reilly
That’s pretty ridiculous

To build the team, ok sure. A 21-24 year old player, absolutely.

A 28+ year old player, hell no

He has developed quite nicely into the caption of this team....
