I'll tell you what I WOULD love, is Stone to Calgary for Matthew Tkachuk. Then we could have a Tkachuk brothers lol
Obviously not gonna happen. But it's fun to think about. |

Stone >>> RNH - Aetherial
I definitely agree Stone is better. But that's the only decent roster player I see Edmonton parting with. Obviously they'd have to sweeten with a pick or whatever. But I think RNH gets the conversation started. Plus, I remember The Nug being connected to Ottawa in rumours in the past. |

Thing with Ferland is he's technically capable of playing in the top half of the lineup. In fact you basically have to play him there because he's next to useless anywhere else.
Tell me more about this Bingo - whats his drawbacks? |

Any educated guesses at what Calgary, Edmonton, or Philly could offer for Stone?
If any of those three are 'your' team, could you please enlighten us on what assets you think your respective GM's might be offering?
My wild guesses...
Edmonton - RNH??? Which may be a lateral move in a sense.
Calgary - NO idea. Package of underwhelming prospects and picks?
Philly - Again, NO idea. Package like Calgary? - PavohnDatsvares
If money isn't the issue with Stone, Philly would center the deal around Voracek who's signed for like 40 more years. |

His biggest drawback is that he's not capable of playing in the top half of the lineup |

No shot.
Given that Stone is a rental and we are unlikely to re-sign, I'd guess a package like:
1st, Bennett, Kylington would be the best we could do. I wouldn't do this tho. |

A signed top 6 F for an unsigned one and the team parting ways with the one who's actually under contract would have to add? |

That's actually not bad to be honest. We get a roster player (forward) in Bennett, a (very) late 1st, and Kylington is a decent defense prospect if I remember correctly? |

I think any trade involving Stone at this point entails some sort of assurance regarding extending him. |

Like conditional picks. For example: If Stone doesn't extend, Ottawa gives EDM some picks. If he does extend with the Oilers, then Ottawa gets a 2019 first, etc. |

Why would Stone pass up free agency now? |

Loool Whoops. I got confused between my two different convos between EDM and CGY |

Ya. Like I said tho, this is probably more to give up then I could stomach but didn't want to throw out the typical hockeybuzz BS offer. |

I'm not saying he DOES or even should. I'm just trying to get an idea from Flames, Oilers, and Flyers fans what THEY think is a realistic offer. |

Still not getting RNH for a rental, especially from a non playoff team, how would this make any sense? |

Business is business, but man would that be a big F you to Voracek after the contributions he's made to the Flyers while he's been here. |

Because he loves living in Ottawa in the winter.
He believes in the direction of the team.
He is confident that Melnyk is sincere when he says he is committed to putting a strong team on the ice.
He thinks the Senators have a strong core, with Bobby Ryan and Gaborik and the benefits they derive from still paying Phaneuf.
Because he wants to play with Duchesne next year.
How many reasons do you need? |

It's too bad player trades can't be conditional. Like a Flyers vet and a prospect to Ottawa for Stone. If he doesn't sign with the Flyers the prospect comes back. |

Even the Sharks are in on Stone... well why wouldn't they? They can name their price apparently for anything coming from Ottawa... we know Sharks have no meaningful picks to offer, and we know Dorion incapable of getting any prospect with pedigree (maybe Josh Norris is the exception... maybe) so how about:
To Sharks:
- Mark Stone
To Sens:
- young hockey executive with Asst. GM upside
- negotiator for Lebreton / Trinity talks
- 1 hockey analytics department (with Macbooks)
- 1 office manager
- 1 other adult who's kid plays hockey and knows Brady Tkachuk (does not necessarily need to know him directly, kinda like 7-degrees of Kevin Bacon)
- conditional 2nd in 2022 |

So you wouldn't even consider the following
If Stone DOESN'T extend in Edmonton
To OTT: RNH
To EDM: Stone, 2020 1st. Which basically means trading RNH for an early first next draft.
If Stone DOES extend
To OTT: RNH, + some package
To EDM: Stone and maybe something else
Both deals are actually quite decent for both teams.
For the record, I don't see Edmonton as a trading partner for a Stone move. I'm just spit balling off the three teams the blog mentioned |

That's all nice... but you missed the original point where he gets traded to Edmonton and signs there, not Ottawa...
