One team i'd like to target in the offseason is the Jets. They are going to have a difficult time fitting their guys under the cap. I wonder if we could pry Kyle Conor from them, maybe Conor and Perrault (ridding them of his $4M) for Laughton and a second. Something along those lines.

Not for Voracek, but make it JvR and I'll take him to the airport and wait for Weber's plane to arrive.
- Scoob

JVR and a 2020 1st? Yeah, I'd do that.

McDavid
Matthews
Eichel
Marner
Laine
Draisaitl
Petterson
Dubois
Ekblad
Hischier
Reinhart
Hanifin
Bennett
Patrick
Heiskanen
Puljujarvi
Strome
Dal Colle
Makar
Juolevi
That's how I would list them.

- meduser

might be a homer but i'd put Patrick after Ekblad, and you have Bennett too high. Not sure if you watch much college hockey either but Makar is going to be a good player.

Could you imagine if Weber is in and out of the lineup with injuries, this board would go nuts haha. #FireFletch

I love Weber but I wouldn't do it. That kind of move is exactly the kind of move the Flyers shouldn't be making.

Maybe a first and a prospect, idk just spit balling. They will have to do something, can't sign everyone. They have 2 or 3 Dmen signed for next season with Laine and Connor due contracts as well.

No, I don't watch college hockey at all.
I based this on their nHL performances so far only.

The last 3 on my list haven't broken into the NHL yet, so they ranked bottom 3.

Patrick has been a disappointment to me. I have not been very impressed by what I have seen, but you do see glimpses of the talent there, but not for long.

Bennet has played his role in a stacked Calgary team. He has more points than Patrick, and has been relatively healthy.

Gotcha with the non NHL guys. Bennet has been a disappointment in Calgary, was on the trade block the past two years, finally found a supplemental role his fourth year in the league and his numbers are nothing to look at. I guarantee Patrick will be a much better player.

I'd want the first to be top 10 protected, but if the Habs agreed to that, I'd make the deal. I'd much rather have Weber right now at 7.9 million than JVR at 7, and even at 34, he'd be their best Dman right now and the perfect partner for Provorov on the top pair. Yeah the contract could be a pain in a few years, but I'm willing to take the risk for three reasons.

1. If he retires early, the cap penalty is 100% on Nashville
2. By the time you get to the last couple years of the deal, the cap ceiling will likely be hovering around 100 million, so it becomes less of an issue
3. Odds are very good, that in the next CBA, which is coming up in just a few years, teams will get at least one more free buyout which they could use on Weber

They'll either let Tyler Myers walk or trade Trouba. They could also probably move Perrault with a bit retained. They aren't moving Connor, not a chance.

Do you think they wait until the offseason with Trouba, at that point it's just his rights. I'd be willing to sign him for $6M with term, would it take much more? Looking at his numbers I don't see why he would get $7M. Just because you are a big right shot D?

Not worried about cap recapture nor did it factor into my opinion. He is 33 now and while still a good player he is likely to decline not to mention he is already breaking down. Hoping on a potential compliance buyout is not something that should be factored in. It's not a move the Flyers should be making. For what, to be a playoff team. Will it make them a contender?

I don't know if anyone read Sam Donnellon's column on Dave Scott but there is some scary stuff in it.

Maybe, but Voracek, with all his faults, is still a lot to give up for a guy whose best days are clearly behind him.
- BiggE

large part of the fanbase is underselling what jake brings and will bring going forward. He like G will benefit from a better line up.

Ok,

So I caught a little bit of the debate of Vorobyov’s play early in the season. Someone made an argument that he was fine, the team was bad. I felt Vorobyov was very much overwhelmed by the role he was placed in. I think you could make an argument that he was missed used. One example was putting him on the second PP unit, playing the right point or right half wall (whatever you prefer) and offering zero offense and allowing short handed oppounities.

I’m fine with him being back but don’t put him on the PP if we have better options.

He looked out of place once the NHL season started, hopefully he comes back this time and plays with more of a purpose. He just seemed to be out there not doing much, didn't want the puck.

1) Scott has hired someone to look after the business so he can focus on Hockey.

2)""I’m so thrilled with what Chuck’s doing,’’ Scott said. "He’s everything I hoped for. He’s bright, methodical too. He’s a planner. He’s looking for that opportunity. Between now and the end of February, if there’s an opportunity, we’re in a position to capitalize on it all the way through to the draft and into next season."

3)His attention focused on the hockey team more than ever, Scott vows the Flyers will be much more aggressive in the free-agent market this summer than they have been recently. One big reason is that, by next season, more than $260 million will have been spent to improve the fan experience at the Wells Fargo Center.

4)"We’re going to keep investing,’’ Scott said. "We’re going to be cap spenders. We want to build the best team possible. Chuck feels good about a lot of what he inherited. He’ll do more than just draft. He has that experience. We’re going to be aggressive.’’

What part did you find scary in it?

Just saw your post above.

Should've just kept Holmgren as the GM and never hired Hextall.

This part bothered me a little. I believe you cut the next line off, but he mentioned something along the lines of Chuck recognizing there’s a piece or two missing. I think it’s safe to assume Hextall also recognized this and Hextall always emphasized he would 100% make a deal if it made sense / helped now + future. I also didn’t care for the line regarding Hart: “I don’t think we would have seen Carter under the other front office.”
Fletcher himself said week 1 he wasn’t going to rush such a young goaltender and all that. It’s like not Hexy prevented Hart from getting called up. There simply wasn’t a roster spot. It took 4-5 goalies to get hurt for Hart to get the nod. Hell I think Homer even echoed the carefullness of handling Hart’s youth the week Hexy was fired.

I should've included that part. I actually laughed when I read it. He praises Fletecher for realizing there are a couple of pieces missing. No poop!
