First off you just made a statement where a woman got a spot over a man when there are plenty of men in the NHL that are better than her that deserve the spot over her so by your definition She was gifted it. Thats a fact by your definition.

If they want equality then vote for men and women. Have spots for both players based on votes and the same amount of players from both sides and play the damn game.

You are giving that woman that spot just to have a woman on that line. That is sexist

My bad for seeing it for what it is. Yes I am still stuck in the 50s. You people are the ones clamoring for this woman like it is some sort of milestone when it is 2019.

- sabresfan69

And Skinner was "gifted" a spot through a fan vote. You're selectively indignant about what should be a fun event. I think what you're really after is that you want to see men play women so you can be right about the fact that men would win.

What Stripes is saying is that it would be fun and good for the sport in general to highlight the best men and women. I would LOVE to see Phil and Amanda Kessel on the same team. It would be fun. What you're missing is the fun part, in your quest to fight some odd perceived culture war

The women certainly would have won this competition:

And that's very sexist.

Your whole statement wreaks of token woman and sexism. I am sorry I guess its just too difficult for you people not to be sexist.

I will just close my eyes next year and just be happy so girls are skating around at a skills competition.

If you don't get it you never will.

- sabresfan69

i'm sorry you feel that way.. i guess you are better than everyone else here.. go don your vagina hat and march into DC

I love the NHL's approach. We are playing 4th string to the big 3 in the States. We will never catch baseball or football but we can sure as hell attempt to diversify our audience and be way more progressive when it come to the fairer sex.

Would be better if they were against each other! Sibling rivalry to the max

Then there is poor Blake Kessel...

The last thing I will say about this:

I have always enjoyed watching/reffing women's hockey.

To me (because I love the sport) a women's hockey league was always something I thought should be done. I would and do watch whenever I can.

Then I had 2 girls and one who has fallen in love with the game like her daddy did. She got to see the USA Women's National team up front when I was reffing their tune up games in Tampa.

She got to meet a lot of the players. She got to see up front how those women practice, play and act. She was 4 at the time. They got her hooked to the sport, not me.

My wife and I showed her the video of Kendall Coyne (she still calls her Penny because she thought Coyne was a coin and a penny is a coin). Watching her face light up seeing how fast she was. Then she noticed how she was on her edges on the turns (this is a 5 year old mind you).

So as we are getting her ready for practice on Saturday morning she told us she was going to work on her edges so she can be as fast as "Penny".

I have never seen her work as hard in practice as she did on Saturday.

Sure it might be a one time thing for her, but if having a woman in a skills competition can do that for 1 little girl, I can only imagine what it did for others just like my daughter.

This is good stuff here. I missed the boat on my 2 girls and hockey. Both soccer stars but one would have made a killer hockey player. Tough and aggressive.

If my youngest wants to play she will probably be better than my oldest. She is fearless and aggressive.

She kicks the crap out of her older sister.

is his contract up at the end of the year? i would assume that any trade would have a contract extension conditions on the value of what goes back.

I think he was being rushed by Murray

He clearly has some flashes to his game but he has a lot to work on to be a full time NHLer.

Making him work his way through and up is exactly what is needed at this time.

You would know more than I, but I don't believe they have soured on him, just that he needs more work.

He’s on the same path as Brian Campbell. It took till he’s was 23 to finally stick with the club.
