seriously she was so impressive. The guys mostly slowed down circling the net but her edge work is so outstanding. she just kept her feet moving at the same speed circling the net. only being a second and a half or so off from McDavid was quite impressive - nastyflyergirl
She was amazing! True pro. |

Can we stop this garbage about Giroux being underappreciated already. He isn't underappreciated, he's often built up by people, WRITERS, to be what he isn't. He's not elite, he's very good !!!!! |

I still say you can't really afford to trade any of Provy, Ghost or Sanhiem right now. The return would have to be really enticing to part with one of the best pieces of our thin and developing defense. Maybe once we know what Myers and Morin are, but we aren't there yet.
I would certainly consider cashing out on Gudas but I don't see how you move any of the aforementioned three and don't create a huge hole on the back end. - hereticpride
If the Flyers finish the season with a bang, it’s possible none of the young defenseman are traded. If the team struggles, then it seems almost certain that one will be traded. We’ll have to see how it goes.
Sanheim is probably the hottest commodity since they won’t trade Provorov unless there is some epically bad contract negotiations. (Don’t get mad at me for saying it. I didn’t say I wanted him traded or that I don’t like him. He is just what other teams want.) |

yeah i have no confidence in Scott leading this team AT ALL
here is the thing, coming out of the season that didn't happen Snider promised they would never again trade away prospects, draft picks blah blah blah. they would get back to building the way they did in the 70's and 80's (draft and supplement with trades and of course the ability to sign free agents in today's NHL). then that went out the window with Holmgren once they came close in 10. then Hexy was hired and once again they would be building through the draft blah blah blah. now scott is talking about spending to the cap, etc.
How about we pick a plan and stick to it for more than 3-4 years?
for the record I believe you win by drafting well and yes, signing key free agents and making some trades. I just think the organization has been all over the place over the last 10-15 years and I just wish they would stick to a plan |

Nothing Fletch has done leads me to believe that it would have been any different under Hextall, including calling Hart up. Which I feel would have happened anyway given all the same circumstances.
Scott scares me though. Having a meddlesome "owner" pressuring the hockey people to "do something" gets you Ilya Bryzgalov while losing a 2 time vezina winner. Its get you signings like Lecavalier. And trades like a first round pick for Steve Eminger. At least Snider knew hockey. Scott? I don't think he knows hockey. |

that is what worries me as well and Holmgren has been here long enough now to have NO patience and we saw already how he did a nice job fixing the team then went all in and made a mess of things
fletcher's trade history also makes me leery. |

The organization is no different than the fan base sadly. One week the team needs proven goaltending so the team will play better then Hart comes in to play well for a little bit then all of a sudden goaltenders used in the same time frame are good enough to backup Hart. What if Hart struggles or goes down? I guess worry about it when it happens with another waiver pickup. Then you have the flip flopping of needing to improve the team through trades or signings then a small stretch of success and now everything is good to keep the same. Maybe the team needs toughness one day then the next the toughness is pointless because they need more skill.
It's a rollercoaster ride year after year. Obviously if the team is losing then the answer will always be the opposite....until it doesn't work. The team has lacked any true identity for so long no one knows what they want.

The good news is Ghost has alternated good and bad years, so next year should be a great year for him. Provorov is still a mystery, who knows which one will show up next year. |

For those of you like me, who don't give a rats behind about the all star game, here is a new topic for today: All time favorite films, which as a former film major, is a subject near and dear to me.
Mine would be, in no particular order:
Casablanca
The perfect movie, IMO. The dialogue, the performances, the way it was shot. Everything in that film is just awesome. It also features some of the most memorable lines in film history.
The Godfather, parts 1 and 2
To me, both I and II are two halves of the same film. Love just about every scene in each. Too bad they didn't quit after those two however.
Rosemary's Baby
One of the most chilling films I've ever scene and one of the rare instances where the film is better than the book. The cast is absolutely sterling.
Animal House
One of my two favorite comedies. Every scene in that movie is funny, Belushi was at his finest in this film and he owns every scene that he's in.
12 Angry Men (the original version)
One of the best written films of all time. Considering that 99% of the film is basically 12 men sitting around a table, it's amazing how the movie captivates you and holds your undivided attention. One of the finest ensemble casts ever put together as well.
The Empire Strikes Back
IMO, by far, the best Star Wars film. It's the perfect escapist sci-fi treat and the fact that the ending isn't a happy one, just makes it better.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The best sci-fi/fantasy film adaptation of all time. The cinematography is awe inspiring, and the special effects are amazing. Serkis' performance as Gollum was perfectly done as was Elijah Wood as Frodo and of course, Ian McKellan's Gandalf
Reservoir Dogs
The dialogue is fantastic and it's just a great, down and dirty story. Tarantino's best film, IMO.
The Gold Rush
Charlie Chaplin at his finest. He was an amazing talent. If you don't love this film, you don't love movies
Young Frankenstein
My other favorite comedy. The performances, especially Wilder, Boyle, Feldman and the always fantastic, Madeleine Kahn make this film just a treat to watch. Shooting it in black and white was a great choice. It's my favorite Mel Brooks film. - BiggE
The Sure Thing
Nick & Noras Infinite Playlist
Evil Dead II
Alien
Deep Rising
Clerks
Watchman
Event Horizon
The Wedding Singer
Kung Fu Hustle

sure fans are and will always be fickle. not all of course but many. Look how fast people were off of Wentz. but its one thing to have a fan base be all over the place and another the management

Scott may not know much about hockey, but he’s not a stupid man and he understands the business of sports. I have to wonder if he’s saying stuff to placate the corporate season ticket holders and major sponsors.
For all of Scott’s talk, and all of our fear, Fletcher hasn’t traded any picks or quality prospects whatsoever. I also think that Fletcher is an intelligent enough person to also learn from his mistakes. As I’ve said before, I’m going to sit back and see what they do between now and next fall’s camp, before making any judgments. |

I agree, but it's scary to think how much the management and fan base mirror each other.
The Flyers can still develop, but they still need to improve at the same time. They need to become a harder working and better skating team. Hopefully if they can add those elements when they do struggle it won't last so long. |

I don't think the man is an idiot (Fletcher) but I am not greatly impressed with his past trades. I don't want the Flyers to just be a solid playoff team which is what Minnesota became. I want a championship team. I hope he can get the Flyers there.
I also understand you use surplus to fill voids. I just hope management is smart enough to not trade away the hits and keeping all the misses seriously tho, you can only have so many players so I do expect some prospects to be moved for young but NHL ready players. |
