Cantiague is right around the corner from my office. Worst rink on LI. I had a crossover beer league game there years ago and after the game I got all set to shower only to find that....there were no showers. That was fun.
Where are you traveling (to the Rinx) from? - eichiefs9
Probably Germany..... |

If you haven't been to Cantiague in years, you should go back. It was redone when Wang (RIP) bought it over, and was prepping it for the Isles, before Twin Rinks went bankrupt. They did a pretty nice job. Though I'm not certain that there are showers even now!
We are coming from Port Washington, but the teams have kids from all over. Couple from Hicksville, Westbury, Oceanside, LB, etc. |

Once more the NHL shows its bias. Montreal is not going to earn their playoff spot, they are going to have it handed to them. Awful call.

And once again your team will rule the regular season only to be disappointed and lose to a supposed "Lesser" team in the playoffs.......yielding both teams the same result.....NO CUP!!
Great post! |

Do we really have to remind you that the Habs got all the French Canadian players all the time for free and it wasn't fair and more stuff and unfairness? |

Interesting. I live out in Suffolk so I avoid going to rinks in Nassau at all costs...but at least I know if I ever have to go back it won't be a total bust
I'm still yet to skate at the Twin Rinks, or even go inside there.
Yeah, the Rinx is a hike from Port Washington for sure. At least it's just the LIE the whole way though. |

That guy was special. I just don't get why the call is awful. The call is correct, within the rules, regardless of who's playing. Now, if you have an issue with the rule, as the blogger does, that's another story....also not related to Montreal, exclusively. |

That's true. It's a straight shot and not far of the LIE. Brewster is way worse, as is Abe Stark and Aviator.
Twin Rinks is very nice. Once the Islanders took it over, they did a great job. May be moving my daughter to a girls team that plays out of there next season, so I will be there a lot.
I haven't been to Superior in ages. Now THAT place, while old and gross, was a great place to play. |

Superior is where all my games are now. That rink is a full blown D-U-M-P. Everyone loves walking up/down stairs, in skates, to play...right?
I've never been to prison, but I'm like 98% positive the showers in prison are nicer, safer, and cleaner. They're all terrible, but if you're not in the Royals room or Jr. room...there's a very rapey vibe to the showers there. Plus you can almost taste the black mold you're probably inhaling.
It used to be frigid and the best ice on the Island, in my opinion. But it's not as great anymore. |
