That's incorrect. If you would come around more you'd know that. The most recent example is that I disagreed with how they're handling the Weise situation. I also vehemently disagreed with the Hextall firing. All documented.

Get back to me when you have something real.

Fletcher: So okay, we're going to give you Giroux at 50% retained for a 3rd rounder and your 15th ranked prospect.

Hextall: What part of "we're not trading any of our picks or prospects" don't you understand?

no doubt, everyone knows the big 3 issues, Goaltending, Top 4 D and 3C. After Hex didn't address, Fletcher has no choice, he has too.
- wcorvette

I dont know if I consider goaltending an issue anymore. Figuring out who will split time with Hart is more of a minor deal.

Agreed and I can see that happening.

The style that Gudas plays is a playoff style of hockey. There is a team out there who believes they can win it and they will overpay for Gudas

you get better … quicker...with solid upgrades in assets. I think the Flyers will and should be very busy from now till Feb. 25th. The major changes probably wont happen till the summer.

Having Hart play so well really has saved the Flyers....I think everyone can agree that if hextall was still here we wouldn't know when Hart would be ready, because he wouldn't of had a sniff for at least another year. They would of had to spend assets to address the short term mess that was their goaltending...It appears he's ready now...a competent backup still needs to be addressed though.

Nicholson touched on the need for character. A primary focus will be on bringing in secondary leadership to help McDavid.

Sounds like Simmer to me...hope they are willing to overpay for him.

I love HART and I really, really, really want him to succeed. But I am not expecting him to be our #1 right now. The league will begin to put a book together on him and he will struggle. How he responds will define him. So yes the goalie situation is better but I'd be kicking the tires on someone who could pull #1 duties more rather than less of the time. If that's the definition of a competent back up then we agree. I just think we are going to lean more heavily on this back up than most people think.

Playoff hockey is not egregious turnovers under minimal pressure.

Gudas' game is not egregious turnovers under minimal pressure, what are you talking about?

I'm surprised he has played this well this soon. When I say competent back up I'm more meaning a guy to share the work load.... should have said it better. Too bad Elliot is breaking down because to me he would of fit the bill..
I no longer think he's an answer.

From the presser it sounded like they were ready to pivot toward a more speedy/skilled lineup, so probably not.

Last year, haha come on. Gudas has played very well this year, teams would certainly want him for the playoffs. I'd rather hold onto him.

goaltending is not an issue with Hart
we'll just have to get a dependable veteran back up to run with him

Protecting him from people scouting what he does will not help him. Hart is not a new goalie coming from Sweden that barely anyone has seen. He has been a big name for a long time. There has already been a "book" on him for a long time. I'm ok with him going through struggles. He has a great support team that will help him through it.

It comes down to the same thing it did with Hextall in charge. At what cost. Do we really want to overpay in a UFA contract for Myers? Just to say we signed a defenseman? I don't. Short term stop gap deals are fine. Higher priced deals for legitimate top line players are fine. Moves just to make moves. I'll pass.
- MJL

I agree and you won't see moves to makes moves but you might see an overpay to get the right guy

I seriously doubt the big name scorers of the NHL have spent a ton of time examining his video. Why bother until you have to face him? That's about to change (which was my point). And I realize that you can't protect him from scouting. My main concern was not expecting him to do it all immediately and all by himself. I hope you are right that he does have a strong support group and that he uses it.
Sign me up if he needs a home cooked meal, or the opportunity to walk a deranged wolf dog through the woods, both of those I can hook him up with, hahahaha...

I have no problem overpaying for the right guy. Tyler Myers , as some have suggested, isn't the right guy in my opinion.

I've always imagined him sitting on and surrounded by a stack of old hockeybuzz printouts. Just like I imagine MOAT specifically taking the effort to print one out to wipe his butt with.
Just sayin, those are my impressions.

The best thing the Flyers can do for Hart is improve the team around him. Every goalie is scouted.
