Depends on who took over but I will say none would have been as disastrous as Chia was for our team....this franchise hasn’t gotten it right for years....can almost say decades now....a lot of thought needs to be put in moving forward with the direction of this team....the hiring of the next GM will be the most important decision that this team will make

I don’t think they are going to rush to get a new GM....if they are smart (ha) they will go through the process and talk to multiple people before coming to a final decision....I would be surprised if they hired a new full time GM at this point in the season

Friedman suggested a while ago that Hunter, Bill Guerin or Craig Heisinger might be possible candidates.....if I’m an outside candidate looking in being the GM of a McDavid team has to be very appealing but what a mess to fix around him

I can see them having him sit in on them. Get his take. Maybe not go for the guy he likes best, but at least make sure he has a good feeling for the guy.

That's gonna be a big question in interviews. "How do you propose the cluster(frank) we've been left in gets fixed?" Get some serious feedback from a few smart guys so they may not have to suffer thru 5 more years of horsepoop but possibly turn it around in like 2-3 instead, if a few ideas all work.

Regardless, I hope that the folks in charge actually put some thought into this for you guys, and not just hire the first former Oiler that they see crossing the street. Lord knows I've seen what happens when your team is perennially mismanaged. Hopefully the installation of Keith is actually temporary, and Katz goes scorched Earth and starts all over again with folks that know what the (frank) they're doing

Not likely anyone else is leaving before seasons end besides a player or 2. Wayne is just a figurehead who doesnt do much. Keith directs some scouting. The rest are still just riding the bus. Should be gone the day after regular season or once the cup finals are over if the Oilers want to accommodate the NHL. Not likely a clean sweep happens but hopeful. Enough people call for it and just maybe it can happen.

I'm sure they have contacted Stevie Y. But if they call him once and he says "I am waiting on another call", they have to say "cool, here is our initial offer, call back if we're in the ballpark and let's see if a deal can be worked."

Gotta remember Stevie has TC ties too so there is likely some contact made prior.

The problem is coming into this organization there's about a 90% chance you'll never work in the NHL again and a 10% chance you'll look like a genius. I doubt there's many high end GM's like Stevie Y wanting to take that risk at this point.

That in itself should be a red flag given that he was doing the same for the Bruins when they selected Zboril/Debrusk/Senyshen and left Barzal, Connor, Chabot, Boeser and Aho (among others) on the board...
