It's a pretty awful looking contract, so I can fully believe that Chiarelli was the one to do it, but why would the Oilers allow it? Makes no sense to me.

In seven NHL drafts as a director of amateur scouting between two organizations, he basically has the Pastrnak pick to hang his hat on and little else. OEL I suppose, but that was sixth overall. This is a guy who took Gormley 14th, Murphy 20th, Visentin 27th.

I said it after watching Bracco in the OHL. It just takes him about a year to get used to the league he's playing in. His 2nd year in the OHL he was one of the better players and now in his 2nd year in the AHL, he's a point a game player.

I don't think he'll be a point a game player in the NHL or anything, but I do think there's a very good chance that he'll be an pretty decent NHL player.

I agree that it's really high.. The argument they were making was that Matthews is going to ask for McDavid money, because he is as valuable to Toronto as McDavid is to Edmonton.. (which is nonsense, cause Edmonton only has McDavid.) and that if Matthews gets 12.5M, Marner is going to get at least $11M, because right now Marner is the Leafs best player and Matthews is not $2M better than Marner, whatever that means.

Bracco might have to be Nylander's replacement.. If Matthews get 12.5M and Marner gets $11M like they were projecting on TSN radio this morning

Matthews is not worth 12.5M in any contract negotiation. If he's lucky, he gets Tavares money, but he needs to start putting up numbers down the stretch and into the playoffs. His numbers are inflated due to his points in October. His numbers since returning from his shoulder injury are not very good. He had an initial bump when he came back, but since that, average. Certainly not in the $12M range. Marner may be the bigger challenge, if he keeps putting up numbers going forward. Maybe $10M each is a closer number to look at.

Chiarelli probably got the approval to re-sign Koskinen, but management forgot to tell him how much to spend on Koskinen.
