I hope Kyle learns to just keep quiet until pen hits paper on future deals. "We can and we will" turned out horribly, and if Matthews isn't signed by the deadline, poop's going to hit the fan in T-dot. Unnecessary commentary...it doesn't need to be Lou level, but some discretion would help.

What I keep hearing is that Marner's camp want to be second to Matthews for the comparison. If Matthews signs for say 12.5 then Marner can come in and say he's worth 10. If Matthews signs for 11, Marner can't really say he's worth 12. (Well he can but not likely to get it.)

Personally, I'm not sure I understand everyone here. I get making money because your career is relatively short. However, how does a player always say "I like it here and want to play/win here but let's handcuff the team from helping us do that."
