It would be hilarious if After finding out he was scratched in favor of Lehterä that Weise complained to Gordon, “how can you scratch me for a man involved with a coke arrest?!”

Maybe he got caught dumping an 8-ball in to Lehtera's coffee SRV style.

I'm still hoping we find out that he's Lehtera's supplier

Yes, but they are mostly dressing low level prospects and guys on minor league deals right now, I don't think the vet rule is factoring in to it at all.
- BiggE

I do wonder if they just don't want him injured so they can possibly move him in a way you suggested or even keep options open.

They have to have some reason for not wanting him on the ice. Maybe they hope he gets enough and wants to mutually terminate.

I don't know.

the Flyers have 27 players on the cap counting the guys on IR and still have $8,147,227 cap space. they will have about 33,000,000 in cap space with 11 roster spots to fill including re-signing, signing, trading or promoting players. They really are in a good position to get a lot better if the Flyers make the right moves. One thing I do like about moving on from Hextall is we now have a fresh set of eyes without any bias (not sure if that is the word i am searching for exactly). I just really hope Fletcher makes the right moves
- nastyflyergirl

And the right moves don't include trading Nolan Patrick.

Listening to a lot of the hockey talking heads, Simmonds could be in hot demand for teams. Could be a lot of teams that might actually see each other in the playoffs going after him. Would be nice to have a bidding war going on for him.

Call up Aube-Kubel! Wait, he’s hurt? Okay, let’s put that to bed.

"And one look at the Flyers’ cap situation would suggest that Simmonds, who is no doubt due a raise, is going to be heading elsewhere sooner or later."

Huh? There are reasons why Simmonds may be moving on rather than being re-signed but the cap isn't one of them. The Flyers are in good shape cap wise. Contract TERM, not cap hit, is the issue with Simmonds.

I would assume Simmonds wants 7 years....and although I love what he has brought to the team, I can't see even a five year term. If the Flyers do go beyond 4-5 term, it will be a contract they may come to regret.

Agreed.

If that rumor is even true, that's a GM seeing Philadelphia in chaos and trying to "shoot his shot" on the off chance he gets a positive response.

Question. If Farabee were to sign an NHL/AHL contract would he be able to play for the Phantoms next season?

Completely agree.

This is one of the issues with when a national guy starts talking specifics on any given team. They either need to do their home work or they will most likely say something that isn't accurate.

Friedman in his 31 thoughts last week mentioned it

“There were some teams wondering if Philadelphia would be as married to Nolan Patrick now that Hextall is no longer running the show. Current GM Fletcher stood up for him prior to the player ending a 24 game goalless drought Monday night. It is hard to find big, right shot centers, Fletcher recognizes that.”

This was also before his stellar Saturday game.

What rumor? If you're talking about that quote that teams are asking about him - so what? Teams ask all the time about players. That doesn't mean the Flyers are interested in moving him.

They'd likely suspend him if that was the case.

kid is all of 20 and does show flashes to why he was picked 2nd overall. Do I wish he would have put big numbers up from the get go, sure. But i understand young players develop at their own pace. I have high hopes for Patrick
