the biggest question tho, is why. They have him signed for the remainder of the year, he has such a small sample size (despite the fact hes actually be decently good). Why are they signing him to a multi year contract based off of this. Do they think he is really that good where they think he will demand more $ as the year goes on? I doubt it.

I don't think he'll end up being that bad, but I agree that the rationale for this signing is definitely worse than the Canes' offer to Darling.

the sample size is way to small to lean in either direction imo. He could totally be worth the 4.5aav, or he could totally suck. Either way, the signing is still a insane gamble for a 30 year old with 31 professional games played IMO.
