I know that's a lot to ask, I know how brutal the weather can be in Edmonton. I don't want anyone to freeze to death with a pitchfork in their hands.. but my point is a movement that has to get started. I don't think it will take long at all to get a whole lot of fans involved. You guys are passionate, and unfortunately heads have got to start rolling.

isn't it ironic, that the GM who had his face/name plastered on billboards paid by fans to try and petition for him to get fired, fleeces Peter Chiarelli out of Eberle/2015 1st/2015 2nd, and still gets fired before Peter Chiarelli does.

Flash fire kinda touched on this I think. I’m never a ref blamer. Everyone gets and gives bad calls.
But fact is, Connor is mugged and impeded far too often. “Can’t call everything” - why not ? That’s the rules no?

As mentioned, Our defence would get called alot more too. Fair enough

Yeah, hooking is hooking is hooking no matter who its on. Or, at least, it should be.

On one hand, that's a pretty good deal.

On the other, that's a big bit of cash for a 30 year old goalie with only 31 NHL games under his belt.

I was hoping for a 2 to 3 year deal at 3.5.

Nor can I.

And why is this? What do we as fans owe this franchise? After having been made to suffer through this last decade of near continuous failure and ineptitude, why should we fans be expected to maintain faith with an organization that has done less than nothing to earn it?

A little rich (or lengthy) considering his short tenure so far, but realistically, what other decent goalie would sign up in the off season to play in front of this team? And what would that cost?

Saw on twitter. Real

Hopefully at least they get an asset for Talbot instead him walking

Kosk has been solid I think. I mean we needed to sign someone and don’t wanna go into the off-season with nothing.
A year longer than idve liked, marginally more cash too. but I don’t hate it

Forgive me, I'm not trying to be rude, but I have an honest question. Edmonton seems to have a problem with their GM. He doesn't make good decisions. At least that's how it appears to people on the outside. So why hasn't the ownership fired him already? You guys have arguably the best player in the league on your roster, and Chiarelli is wasting his talent. With a guy like McDavid, don't you want to put the best team on the ice? How on earth is Chiarelli still employed? I'm asking honestly and with respect. I have nothing against the Oilers. I actually feel bad for McDavid at this point.
- simethos

The easiest and most obvious answer, the owner.

No different than many companies where the supervisor, manager, director, VP or President truly believes they are doing a good job, even though everyone around sees the mistakes. It would be impossible for Chiarelli not to see all the talk about him from hockey insiders, fans, articles, etc, yet in his mind he thinks he is the most deserving person for the job. Chiarelli reports directly to the owner and Katz is obviously standing by him and has for years. Ultimately that is the owners fault, not Chiarelli.

the biggest question tho, is why. They have him signed for the remainder of the year, he has such a small sample size (despite the fact hes actually be decently good). Why are they signing him to a multi year contract based off of this. Do they think he is really that good where they think he will demand more $ as the year goes on? I doubt it.

Can we trade GMs?
At this point a Chiarelli for Bergevin swap wouldn't sound like the worst thing in the world.

Sorry Schweiner, you guys deserve better than Chiarelli. He's trash. You'd have to think he's getting close to being canned. I like the Oil, here's to hoping he gets shown the door sooner than later.

It’s a gamble no doubt. That 3rd year is concerning. But I don’t think it’s entirely unreasonable.
Risking bidding for his services in the offseason prob wasn’t worth it

the dude has been better than Talbot, but he has a 31 game sample size, his Dec/Jan have been worse than his Oct/Nov, is 30 years old. This just screams of desperation.

I was reading the post game comments from Hitchcock, saying that it's not on the gm, it's on the players and coaches. If it was on anybody, it would be the gm.He assembled this squad. Therefore as any manager you are responsible for your team that you put together.
